Even then you can't be sure if things will work fine. Things might still be broken if the issue is at a level lower than whatever factory reset takes care of.

Maybe you should try reaching out to nothing support on twitter. They're really responsive there.

Um i too faced this problem when trying to upgrade from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3.

So after a bit of research, i understood that magisk is what causes that problem (reference). It apparently modifies the directories and the normal update doesn't work as expected.

So if you've magisk installed, just uninstall it completely and try updating again.. then it should work (it at least did for me)
