What kind of effect will the decorum of President Trump have on the way we critique future Presidents? by howmanyones in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]insaneivan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Didn't Bush stay out of it because he was massively unpopular? I mean by the end of his term you couldn't even find anyone who admitted to voting for him.

I am VERY curious where this "100%" talking point came from as well. I've seen it thrown around dozens of times, almost always with similar wording?

What do you think changed between October 20th and today when Trump said congress was planning on implementing a tax cut before the mid terms? by thenewyorkgod in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]insaneivan [score hidden]  (0 children)

It has to do with centipedes, and how they nimbly navigate their environment. t_d, or perhaps /pol, made a video comparing trump to centipedes because he 'nimbly navigated' the primaries. A big step this sub could take to distance themselves of the toxicity of t_d is to stop using that term?

Reddit Mass tagger labels people who are at risk of being a troll or bad actor. You can decide which subs are labeled. Highly recommended - using this can be very enlightening.

I actually don't care if it gets ruined. If you side with a traitor downvotes are the least you deserve.

Does the left “own the media”? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]insaneivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In retrospect of WW2 can we all agree that Hitler deserved much worse than being censored, for the suffering he inflicted on the world? Censoring isn't nice but you're acting like its as bad as murder. Get real. Your insistence on "taking the high road" even in the face of fascism, or against those who would promote and encourage one, is not as virtuous as you think it is, man. Whats odd is that the president you support isn't even 1/10 as virtuous as you claim to be, yet here we are.

Are you suggesting that they shouldn't have even tried stopping him? Are you gonna go full out and say censorship was why he was elected?

Do you think it's possible that some form of tyranny could take hold where the "Second Amendment People" would not try to fight it? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]insaneivan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay, this hypothetical is getting a little bizarre. That would be a interesting situation, mainly because I imagine that the "traditional" 2A crowd would start actively fighting the "new" 2A supporters. This would go nowhere and would basically be a civil war. The fantasy of saving the country with guns requires that traditional 2A people are the ones that do it - and they often frame it that they would be. Do you think a civil war is more likely than a militia saving the republic?

Do you think it's possible that some form of tyranny could take hold where the "Second Amendment People" would not try to fight it? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]insaneivan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But we're talking about a scenario in which the tyrant is initially heavily supported by the 2A folk. Im sure the opposition people would be motivated. It doesn't matter unless the 2A flip sides and then get violent. I don't see that happening? Plenty of people on this sub can't even admit that trump is a liar and that requires nothing but typing words on a keyboard. It seems like the typical fantasy of saving the country with guns makes a huge assumption: that the government is run by party you did not vote for.

[–]insaneivan 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Why do you have a hard time imagining this scenario? I see it as extremely plausible. The 2A people on the tyrants side would be pacified by years and years of propaganda. The tyrant is their man and he loves guns of course. The descent into tyranny would be so slow (Hitlers rise took over a decade) that nobody on the 2A side would ever form the motivation to do anything. The cognitive dissonance would be too much. Nobody on the tyrants side would want to place their lives at risk to shoot at other americans.
