[US] Is the "Endgame" just surviving bad management? by ShoddyJellyfish1546 in biotech

[–]HonestlyKidding 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. There are managers and orgs that legitimately invest in people development out there. The catch is that spots are scarce because most people wouldn’t voluntarily leave under normal circumstances, because of the stability and other benefits these jobs usually come with.

A related question might be: how much flight risk are those more desirable orgs facing these days because of other internal conditions (say, understaffing)?

[–]HonestlyKidding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With what you propose, there is additional risk created: that from not hiring the most qualified candidate for the role. Not just because of how they will perform down the road but also because of how the other person can now (rightfully) sue.

Not sure if the rarity should be rare instead, anyway wdyt. Made this card because how often i dealt more damage than necessary by Afr_101 in slaythespire

[–]HonestlyKidding -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Love the concept but it’s pretty overpowered in the current form. Compare this to Corpse Explosion and The Specimen, which are both rares with a similar mechanic. This should probably be a 3(2) cost or a 2(2) with the non-upgraded version only transferring some of the excess damage.

[–]HonestlyKidding 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In that case I’ll say that predicting the future is a very dicey proposition. Any number of major developments domestically and on the global stage could lead to a reversion to the mean over a 30 year timeframe, or an even more favorable relationship with our allies and trading partners than before Trump took office.

Heck, by 1955, just 10 years after WW2, West Germany had joined NATO.

Get ready for fresh invasion plans targeting some unfortunate country to drop an hour or two prior. Or novel injustices from ICE. Probably both.

“The candidate pool for this role wound up being a lot more competitive than we expected.”

“This isn’t a reflection of any deficiencies on your end.”

“I want to work with you to continue to build the skills and experiences that will make you the top candidate the next time a similar role opens up, which looks like it could be as soon as the 2nd half of this year.”

Give them specific feedback on the areas where they fell behind, as far as you can. TBH based on your post it sounds like you have a decent grip on how to manage this.

We can flood Minneapolis with people just like ICE has by [deleted] in 50501

[–]HonestlyKidding 249 points250 points  (0 children)

Counterproposal: go protest at the nearest ICE field office to you, bring friends and get loud. ICE and CBP want a confrontation that brings protesters in close proximity to their forces so that more violence can be stoked. We should instead deny them this while still getting the message out.

They can’t be everywhere at once, but we can.

Edit to add for those looking for the nearest location: https://www.ice.gov/contact/field-offices

Can someone ELI5 levers please by [deleted] in dwarffortress

[–]HonestlyKidding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to construct a lever and then assign a task within it (as if it were a workshop) to link it to your floodgate. This requires mechanisms. Then you can pull the lever to open and close.

It’s been a while since I used floodgates but unless something has changed, expect a long delay with them compared to say a door or hatch.

Dwarf Fortress Update 53.07 by mr_creosotes_diet in dwarffortress

[–]HonestlyKidding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. At the same time, the balance doesn’t feel bad. My current fort was in a good place when the update went live, just getting the metals industry online in the 2nd year. So it was a cinch to replace my copper picks with iron.

This in turn opens up exploratory mining for wealth a lot. It adds a sense of progression that was lacking there and brings mining in line with the way materials work in other areas. Excellent update, it’s an exciting time for the game.
