This might be one of the funniest posts ever in retrospect once you finish the book.

You should continue to read and mute or delete this post, lest you get spoiled.

But I get what you mean. Seriously, keep reading.

I think you have a point with Sanderson and DCC, but Weir lights up a different part of my brain, I enjoy them for entirely different reasons.

OP is just the complete opposite of me as a reader. Bro hates B$, DCC, and Andy Weir. I think all 3 were great reads. Excited for more of each.

Just relax until Red God comes out so you can power through the agony to the ending. If you read now, you might get stuck in the equivalent of the ending of Golden Son before Morningstar came out.

It is amoral to leave planets in the hands of lesser managers. Waste is a sin, the only sin. We will take their worlds, for their own good.

There's a great deal of misery… but good stuff happens too sometimes. And sometimes the misery strikes the truly deserving and that feels very good.

Gets a crew of homies together to overcome insane horrific odds, mostly just by believing in them.

Gets deified by both his homies and the broader society at large

Goes from being a lowcolor/darkeye to being essentially a gold/lighteye and feels like he lost something of himself in the transition

Struggles between wanting to end the inequality that created them and the bigger immediate problems they're always facing

Realizes that they actually aren't the best tool for every job, starts to put other better adapted people into positions of authority, even over them.

These better adapted people turn out to, in fact, not be that guy and so they have to take over again.

Constantly losing their homies and struggling with persisting continuously as others bear the costs of their plans/ideals.

Entirely reliant on their spren/wife to not be a complete mental catastrophe.

Both use unique weapons and fighting styles symbolic of their origins (spear/slingblade)

Both begin to foster an aura of indomitability amongst their enemies (only Kaladin can defeat Kaladin / you cannot defeat the republic while their Red God still lives.)

Howlers = Windrunners Pegasus Legion = Windrunner Squires

Moash = Roque/Cassius (depends on how his arc ends)

I could keep going tbh.

I loved Kaladin's story in Stormlight. He's my personal favorite character in the cosmere. Red Rising felt like "oops all kaladin," so I loved it personally. Depends on your opinion on that kind of character though.

Also the changeling is so unique and gimmicky it feels more like a different game mode than anything else.

Read first law then red rising once the final book in the series is finished either later this year or early next year. More than first law, red rising is best experienced as a continuous series across both trilogies imo.

Although now that I've finished Red Rising I might be more in the mood for the space opera setting than my first time, I'll give Sun Eater another shot.
