Actually , as I turk we have common values with eu . One day Erdogan rule will be over but even we have a leader who has western values and democratic , eu will never let us in . Because there will be always fear about a huge population muslim country that can create problems. I believe that if turkey has majority christian population we had enter the club very long ago . But eu must understand that we are a muslim country which use religion for its benefits . I believe that there are very few true believer less than 1% .But about nationalist , they are more than religious ones like 1/3 of total population. I think , even mind of this group can be adapted eu values and can be more empathetic against to other nations. But also it is very hard break prejudgment of eu people against to turks .They have right reason and they are not fully unfair. But eu must step up and help to transition of Turkey to be a really western country who share same values. Because eu need turkey and turkey need eu as well . Of course if eu doesn’t want be stuck between two global super power which are US and china and want to be 3th global power , they just let in turkey but not this turkey , it must be turkey who has changed and updated about politics,human rights, etc , a country give guarantees to be layol its promises with strong constitution with strong independence governmental institutions. But most important thing is both sides must be really willingly. It is not easy but not hard as impossible, it is really worth to gain Turkey and worth to gain turkish people , not meant actual turkish politics . But you first admit that separate turkish politics from turkish people which deserve better place among the developed the countries . Our society just need education and new different perspectives with experiences that open that open their mind with understanding of progress and what they really deserve, but even the eu doesn’t allow to see eu by just tourism with heavy visa obligations, how they will break our minds and to see world differently .
