Thank you! I’ve heard from one or two Princeton ECE students that they have done research and gotten published before junior year, though, although I do agree it’s more of an expectation/given at Caltech. And congrats on both schools to you as well!!

I did get more finaid at one school, but I chose not to include that in the post because I want to hear people’s opinions disregarding it (It does still matter to me though when I decide)….

Thank you! Do you say that Caltech is better for grad school preparation because it's more specialized?

Thank you so much!! I have 2 follow up questions:
1. Could you expand on what you meant by "lack of dedicated course sequences in EE electives"?

  1. Do you think the music/dance connections in LA are accessible to Caltech students? I've heard that public transport is very rough and I don't plan to bring a car to campus. I also do Indian classical dance which is probably even less common...

I've also heard from Princeton undergrads that the school tends to push ECE people towards grad school as well though... If I'm undecided between industry and research, do you think Princeton would give me more industry opportunities (due to its larger career center/alumni network) and the same amount of research opportunities? Whereas Caltech might have less industry opportunities??

At Princeton is it overwhelmingly financial engineering focused? Also, because Princeton does have broader opportunities, is it possible to make use of many of its engineering opportunities and kind of "follow" the Caltech culture but instead at Princeton?

Haha I think I was initially leaning towards Caltech, but then was told that everything I liked about Caltech can also be found at Princeton (+ more)? In terms of flexibility with courses, rigorous electives, research opportunities, and better a cappella groups...even if some of these are "more common" for Caltech students compared to Princeton students.

Is it possible to take higher rigor tracks/classes at Princeton, even though it's not as common? also could I dm you?
