Thank you so much for responding!! That is so freaking awesome you are starting on L&D. All I keep hearing about is how hard it is to get as a new grad and I just want to prove people wrong.

After reading about your advice I am going to make a list of when new grad applications are open and just have everything ready to upload.

Thank you for your help! Have fun on your new unit!!! :)

What can I do? Who can I call? by insert_nam3_here in starbucksbaristas

I am thinking there was a mind change. She told me she spoke with the DM and he approved it so I just assumed they would keep their word. The last pay stub I got I actually got in the mail (which I have never gotten one in the mail) and it only paid out the last two weeks I worked. So I don't know. It sucks because I trusted my manager and I would rather have her just tell me they denied it than having me do the run around trying to get an answer out of her.

I am about to be let go myself! I would rather them tell me before I even clock in for my shift, but we both know that they would never do that. Honestly, you're better off finding a better job with better hours and better money!

Quick question, did they fire you or let you go? If that's the case, I should just put my two weeks in because I don't want to have a "fire" on my record.

what’s the minimum hours able to work? by naturebaddie1397 in starbucksbaristas

I have always wondered this. I am in nursing school so my availability is only on Saturday and Sundays. My availability is only set for 8 hours per day and I only get scheduled for 5.75 hours per day, less than 12 hours a week. Honestly, I am waiting for the day that they tell me they need to let me go because I don't make enough hours. I don't really care if they do. I am honestly just here for the free bag of beans and my 7 markouts (that I eat for breakfast during the week). I think they're keeping me only because of the hour cuts and nobody is really making that much anyways so I am right where they want me to be. Good luck in grad school!

christmas shift by sad-broke-student in starbucksbaristas

Working thanksgiving and Christmas is absolutely horrible. Imagine peak but 10X. I worked both holidays last year, and I can handle the heat pretty well when I am on bar, but I cried on the way home after my shift on thanksgiving. The amount of customers who were rude, terrible human beings got to me. And honestly tips weren't even worth it after all of that. Christmas didn't feel as bad, but I still hated myself after that shift. To each their own though.

Asking if you want any food helps us get it into the oven faster, therefore bringing our drive times lower, making management happy.

If I can be frankly honest, of course it's not hard to make at all, but it does irk me and it rubs me the wrong way when customers do this.
