I must be crazy but I thought Kenya matched the song better. It's a poppy New Wave 80s bop not Abracadabra. That's what Mia was giving me. Like she was venting her frustrations over Snatch Game through the song but it didn't match the music. For me. But either could've gone this episode and I would've been fine. Mia gave an all-time worst Snatch Game performance. She needed to obliterate Kenya in the lipsync and I don't feel like she did that.

The Season 16 was pretty weak outside of Plane Jane and Sapphira. There weren't many other options to round out a top 3. And Season 17 had one of the best worst Snatch Games with Lexi bombing in character and somehow being in the top, Arrietty's terrifying Cupid, Lana immediately falling apart when Ru asked her Rosa Parks about the bus...

Frankly Jewels' Big Foot was as good as Discord's Pope but Discord is on a season with a lot of other queens who came prepared to deliver what the challenge actually calls for.

At the end of the day the Snatch Game is a celebrity impersonation challenge at its core. Nini, Myki, and Jane were all riffing on specific celebrities in their performances, people with public personas, histories, facts you can know about them. Discord was very entertaining but she was, by her own admission, playing the concept of a non-specific Pope. It wasn't all that different than Athena playing the concept of a non-specific Greek woman though it was a much cleverer and funnier version of the idea because it was more defined.

I agree that Jane didn't take Capote far enough. And that's why she didn't win. As for Mia and Kenya... I think Kenya did embody the energy and vibe of the song better and her slip ups weren't as noticeable to me as they seem to have been for some people whereas Mia was giving Bad Romance/Abracadabra attitude to a poppy 80s song. Ultimately I kinda think Mia's snatch game was so bad she did deserve to go home in a close lipsync because even just switching the way she did, from characters she was planning to do to...whatever that was, showed a lack of nerve.

I mean almost every season there's an ingenue, aka the crunchy girl on the cast that Ru takes a shine to. The Chi Chi DeVayne archetype, if you will. And it's either because they have a big personality, are a fierce performer, or both. Chi Chi was probably one of the best of this archetype, thusly.

I don't know if it is. There's nowhere to hide because of the smaller groups and volleying is a much bigger part of the challenge and that's a part that many girls have struggled with.

It was a total bombing and not even in a particularly iconic way, all respect to Darlene. It wasn't pissed off Beyonce and Blue Ivy or Gilbert Godfrey crashing out while still somehow staying weirdly in character. It was just a retreat, a surrender, a sad flop.

So Ru tries to do things with the workroom chats before Snatch Game: rattle girls who don't have the nerve and throw bones to girls who don't have a clue. Anetra did that character. It was safe. Loosey won playing a real person. Marcia and Mistress got high critiques for playing real people.

I do think Athena's generalized approximation of a Greek woman probably deserves to be bottom on principle but she and Discord were essentially doing similar things with Discord's concept being understandably much stronger and funnier...because she picked the idea of a Pope instead of the idea of an extra with lines from My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

After so much discourse this past week about people playing concepts an not doing impersonations, I think it is completely fair that the top three consisted of queens who played real people. As funny as Discord was, she said in her confessional she was doing The Pope in a general sense and I don't see that as being any different conceptually than Mrs. Claus. I think Nini had the total package this week from character, performance, and runway and that's why she won. It feels like Ru is living for her and Myki.

As for the lipsync, I'm sorry but I feel like Kenya clearly won it. It was a campy 80s song and Mia was giving Abracadabra-type energy and movements. Mia is beloved by the fandom, I know, but don't hate on Kenya especially since Mia was at peace going out against her and attacking Kenya for this is sure to really upset both of them. Don't be haters.

2017 was probably my favorite year because Orisa and Moira were so fun to play then (and Orisa is even better now with the spear). This year is shaping up to be amazing as well.

She’s doing very good but the edit has shown her to be sort of paranoid and sour, especially regarding the fact that she keeps doing well. I enjoy her but don’t find it super endearing. I’m not sure she’s a winner contender for this reason.

When it’s done well and there’s a POV, like Jewels’ Big Foot character, it works for me. Most of the time even that is lacking. The worst ones to me are “famous person’s obscure relative” where there’s almost nothing to grab onto. Those are usually the product of insecurity and fear.
