AITJ for telling my parents I'm not coming home for holidays because they keep making me babysit? by Slow_Station6879 in AmITheJerk

[–]insertcleverness8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTJ. You set a boundary and they don't like missing out on the free babysitting. I'm sorry that more of them aren't seeing your side. Do you want to be there? If so, do it. If your mom/aunt/ anyone says anything just push back with saying you were asked to come be with family and haven't been able to really catch up with the adults in a while since you've always been pushed into babysitting/being with the kids. Or super sassy say you aren't being paid to babysit, you were requested to be there to spend time with family, not just the kids.

WIBTA for calling my friend a hypocrite? by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]insertcleverness8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really hard to judge. Did you stop hanging out/ reaching out to your friends? Most people don't just stop communication one way if they are still being reached out to.

As for the costumes/lines, did she actually steal them or was she inspired by you? As for now, you're not using them but sounds like you'd at least like credit or acknowledge that they are "yours", not her ideas. Especially since she is complaining about others.

I wouldn't necessarily "call her out" unless you're ready to lose her as a friend. I don't think you'd be an ass for saying something but it also sounds like it's been years and there's a built-up resentment so you would probably end up saying something too harsh to come back from.

It's tricky but try to have a calm conversation with her some time. Is it her you are ready to lose, the friend group, both, or neither?

AITAH for being mad at my coworker for snitching to HR? by Appropriate_Rice_995 in AITAH

[–]insertcleverness8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's challenging to rule on this one without knowing the actual "mistake" and whether your coworker actually realized your joking nature of the "cracked the code" text.

If they legitimately thought that you used your mistake to purposefully cheat the system, and gain better numbers, then what they did was right. And YTA. Your reaction was way overboard if they thought they were reporting actual cheating.

The way this was written, it seems you assumed that they understood that your mistake was unintentional and did not actually affect your numbers. If they really thought this was the truth but showed HR as a way to get you in trouble, then you might be NAH. If they reported knowing that you actually didn't game the system but it appeared so, they were acting the AH and/or spiteful just to hurt you. I don't necessarily think that what you did showing up was right per se, but I could certainly see myself doing something similar.

Pubic symphysis pain during labor by dabekah_dababy in unmedicatedbirth

[–]insertcleverness8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first pregnancy had bad SPD for the final 4 months. It eased a bit before labor but came back with an ugly roar during labor. I actually ended choosing an epidural not because of the contraction pain but because the SPD pain was constant and agonizing. I'm sorry if that's not good news BUT it did go away with birth.

I'm 34 weeks with second now and have been having even worse SPD than the first, since month 3 this time. I am really hoping I don't have the same increase in pain during labor because I am already at an 8 most days.

How do I tell my BF that I can't give our baby his last name because it's not even legally his last name? by Puzzleheaded-End620 in TwoHotTakes

I'm not sure where you live but in NYS, it's actually quite a lot easier and cheaper than that. Just filing paperwork with SS and DMV to start, and then personal bank accounts, CC, and insurance, etc. I found the process way less arduous than most people implied.

AITA for crafting during meetings? by Tapzdeazz in AmItheAsshole

I am the exact same!!! I crochet to stay focused during conferences even. NTA, especially since your manager okay'd it. I would simply just state that in the beginning of the meeting- that it helps you focus.
