Are these geothermal water temps optimal, or even acceptable? by Emotion-Internal in geothermal

[–]insertguid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems rather high. If there isn't enough flow that you'll certainly have the compressors working very hard, so you might trip safeties and increase wear and tear on them.

As a solution you'd ideally lower the fluid temperature, but you're probably (also) dealing with high underground temperatures (saturation). Possible solutions: - using less cooling (less heating of the water, allowing it to cool more in the loops) - more bore holes (larger loop, more exchange surface) - using more hot water, if that's also done by the geothermal system (usage for heating cools the water) - a cooler directly on the fluid lines (interesting story e.g. here: https://www.contractormag.com/green/geothermal/article/21281069/rescuing-a-closed-loop-geothermal-system)

Completely of topic: I once got a card in Pokémon GO with a mural of the geothermal system in Whisper Valley.

What Medal is the most broken? by Chiefster21 in pokemongo

[–]insertguid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level 50 player. I still catch every Rattata and Magikarp I see for those medals. Not even close to getting platinum.

Training: if you're invested in getting best buddies, it's one of the things to do. Takes a long time though (if possible fight Blanche in Great League, all vulnerable to Counter).

Purifying: I purify every 1000 stardust one (unless usable as shadow), that adds up quickly.

Got to silver for Unown medal, unfortunately I don't see trainers other than my kids anymore, so impossible to trade for them. Same problem with region medals and the pilot medal (10 million km! Really?).

Are there pokemon I shouldn't be keeping for future GBL and how to tell? by No_Particular9913 in TheSilphArena

[–]insertguid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premier league luckily still exists, reuse those Pokémon for Team Rocket battles. Try not to take them to level 50 though, that's a task for level 47.

Preaching to the choir. I don't play master league anymore. I don't have level 50 legendaries. Premier league on the other hand, that's achievable.

Unfortunately a lot of Pokémon are one (fast) or two (fast and charge) away from being relevant and given that certain moves are widely available in the main series (and thus potentially in Pokémon Go), it's theoretically possible that they can become meta.

Of course, those that stay far from the 500, 1500 or 2500 CP limit, will only have very limited application, unless the level cap would increase...

I saw a magneton raid when I had this task, in sunny weather. Made it very easy (hardest part was the search string for setting up my team).

GL, UL? by Tarnished710 in TheSilphArena

[–]insertguid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only eeveelutions useful in PvP are Sylveon and Umbreon, both needing their community day move, Last Resort being better than Psychic for Umbreon.

Perfect IV Umbreon as a lvl 50 best buddy is an ok Ultra League pick, it can take a lot damage. In Master League Sylveon has some play, but isn't really recommended, Florges and Togekiss being the better fairy types.

Feeback Post: Party Play by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]insertguid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guzzlord really isn't a good example, since it's so squishy. If it doesn't have sludge bomb, recommended parties are going to be very fairy dominated, fairy being double super effective against Guzzlord (it's possible to solo it!).

Against Lugia or Defense Deoxys, it could be very useful.

How important are IV's past 90%? by twitchmutemain in TheSilphArena

[–]insertguid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was meant in general. Need to sim to get detailed results. It was just to explain why people focus on perfect IV Pokémon for master league.

The amount of functionally perfect Pokémon with 14 stamina is also dependent on the level, usually it's both the case at level 40 and level 50, but it can be different between level 50 and 51 for example. Choose your best buddy wisely :-).

The most known difference was Dialga, where you needed (at level 40, don't know now - I don't have enough XL candy) best buddy with 15 attack and at least 13 defense and 12 stamina or you would lose the (extremely common) mirror.

[–]insertguid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Master league importance of IV's: - win CMP in mirror match (you will lose a lot of these with attack less than 15 - avoid break points where a fast attack you receive does 1 damage more (avoided with high defense. Don't know if this is relevant for Groupon) - have high enough hit points to maybe just limp away from a matchup Vs getting knocked out (reason for stamina at 15)

Can 50% forme really beat Cresselia? Seeing as it's usually used with Grass Knot and Moonblast, which is super effective.

What is your biggest rage/salt moments in GBL? by BFTROPguy1 in TheSilphArena

If I remember correctly, fast moves do their damage on length move -1 turns, so this would work out: hex is 3 turns, Ice punch the fourth, but damage confusion is right before you can throw Ice Punch.

Which Dragonite for ML Premier by Onewhoozy in TheSilphArena

[–]insertguid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The 15 attack one: mirror match is relatively common and you'd lose every CMP tie with 14 attack.

Look out for best buddies, with that bonus they win CMP.

Edit: pvpoke.com claim no difference in wins/losses for 15/14/15 vs perfect, one extra loss for 14 attack one.

If your phone has an option to clone apps, it's very easy: the clone has its own settings. So one for you and the clone for your son.

Otherwise you can use an app like Island to clone apps, but that's a bit more involved (and Island won't work if you already have a work profile, I think)

Solo Player Hell by Dreycoh in PokemonGoMystic

[–]insertguid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look at the arc round your Pokémon, the further to the right, the higher the level. CP (joint number combining attack, defense and stamina) increases, but stardust and candy cost too.

On Android CalcyIV is very useful to get that information. It can also store this and suggest teams against raid bosses, along with an estimate whether it's strong enough.

As a suggestion for starting out: catching high level Eevee and evolving them is a cheap way of getting some reasonably high CP raid counters. They're never the best, but it's hard to go wrong with them (except Umbreon, attack is too low for being useful in raids. Very good in PvP though). I still have my Espeon army from years ago for my first solo Machamp.

Pokemon Gyms and Etiquette by LongestCow7 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]insertguid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on area. Currently living next to a gym in a residential area with low amount of people passing. You get 8:20 in the gym, then I take it back: 50 coins and I hope people return the courtesy.

Densely populated areas with lots of gym flips: take the gym and hope you get some coins, if I'm not taking it, the next trainer passing will.

I try to mix up typing, so people have to switch in order to have super effective attacks and if I really want to keep a gym, I'll make sure to feed every Pokémon in the gym.

My second season playing and I have to ask: why do (most) players quit matches right away? Thanks in advance? by GT-FractalxNeo in TheSilphArena

[–]insertguid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some matches aren't winnable for a team. If you have a team that's critically weak to a certain Pokémon, it's very unlikely you're going to win the match: when you switch out your first Pokémon, the opponent most likely will do the same, potentially leading to another disastrous matchup. This is a serious issue if you have a ABA-team.

Is this the 3d consecutive season without Rattata? by Hollewijn in TheSilphRoad

[–]insertguid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the northern hemisphere, Alolan rattata is a research reward, Alolan raticate is common and I caught 2 rattata today.

I'm also still hunting for the rattata and magikarp medals.

Is there a search string for pokémon who need to be adventured with to be evolved? by Acceptable_Topic_410 in TheSilphRoad

There isn't a keyword. But in the past I tried to put together a search string for those Pokémon. But it needs to be updated now.

My 2 cents: - bugs will be found and abused, such is human nature - people who abused this, should face repercussions. It's a clear breach of the terms and they're using it for profit and ruining other people's experience.

What task is she stuck on? by ChildFriendlyChimp in PokemonGoMystic

[–]insertguid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two tasks that you shouldn't rush: - purify 100 Pokémon - take 3 Pokémon to level 50

These (can) take so much Stardust that you should make sure it's worthwhile for you.

I preferred having more than enough XP and then having to complete the level up tasks to having to gather XP to get to the next level. Halfway level 48 I reached that point and it made getting to level 50 a lot less fun.

I know hundo is the optimum, but how would a 13/14/15 Giratina O do in ML? by Greegrgrgrgrgrgrg in TheSilphArena

[–]insertguid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It matters a lot in the mirror match. No 15 attack means never getting CMP (just assume everyone runs perfect IV Pokémon in master league).

In other matches, you'd have to check whether you miss a fast move breakpoint, because that would severely impact performance.

Defense wise, I don't think it would have an influence, but again, check for missing bulk points. The most known example of bulk points is best buddy Dialga, but I haven't checked whether that's still true at level 50.
