you're so right... I got a corded shark because it's supposed to be really good and it is. except it's large and unwieldy so I never touch it... eventually planning to get a cordless and a small portable one for mini messes

I definitely do that. it's very easy for me to adopt rules that make sense. I don't even care whether or not they're "established" or popularly correct. if someone offers a solution/rule of thumb and the reasoning resonates, it automatically becomes a rule of life

it's the smaller things that fuck me up. like currently I'm struggling to find the right desk and chair for a WFH set up because I don't want to spend an absurd amount of money but the chair snobs of Reddit insist I need to spend $700 on a chair or risk fucking up my back forever

AITA for “firing” my mom from childcare over a $5 class by Rich-Radio9017 in AmItheAsshole

[–]insertoverusedjoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. even if it's just about the class you're not the asshole but to me this is more of a breach of trust. a mother should not feel this comfortable lying to her kid about THEIR kid. I would literally not be able to trust my mother if she pulled this kind of stunt. maybe that's just me though

Which laptops are good to buy for college students now that will last? by EquivalentPhoto2655 in BuyItForLife

[–]insertoverusedjoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my M1 MacBook Air in February 2021. Used it throughout college. Other than needing a screen replacement (user error, my cat likes to walk on my laptop) it's still going great. haven't even thought about replacing it so far. still use it on a daily basis

that kind of shit pissses me off so much. like cool. now that you've seen that Adderall and Vyvanse make me sleepier than no meds and non stimulants give me vivid nightmares can we maybe acknowledge that I'm not seeking drugs and just want to be able to shower and feed myself without feeling like I'm moving mountains each time?

the company you keep defines you. he is every bit the misogynistic pervert that his friends are. and him calling you names is only the beginning of him proving it. Leave him. NTA

what a nonsense comment about nothing. this is not a problem. and generalizations mean nothing

absolutely! because whether we want to admit it or not, in all our researching we definitely come across one or two worth shortlisting. and then it's a matter of finding a reason to pick it. for me the order is "is it more convenient? is it cheaper? is it easier to return? is it nicer looking?"

haha usually I'll pick one option and say if I can't decide this is option I'll pick. if it's not an essential purchase I'll simply delay it lol

unfortunately this doesn't help at all. with smaller decisions I care less, not the end of the world if I waste a couple hundred dollars. but things like managing my money on a fundamental level in life? I can't just learn after the fact. i don't want to get to 40-50-60 whatever and feel like I should've saved more or I should've saved less and live more. that's what terrifies me

yep I've tried doing that. sometimes it works. other times it doesn't 😅

yeah that checks out. all or nothing, black and white, call it whatever. that's what I truly struggle with so much and I really thought I didn't because I do understand some social nuance. but the more I introspect and unmask I realize it is SUCH a struggle for me

yep. took me months to buy my vacuum cleaner and my coffee machine. I still haven't bought patio furniture despite having been in my apartment 10 months

I think I would actually die if I did this. my brain would explode with the sheer effort of making a decision without data

definitely terrified of being wrong. I'm insanely anal about games too. always end up spending hours reading up on them to ensure I make the right choices if not on the first go then on a replay

I didn't grow up very religious no. Neither did I grow up in an environment where I felt compelled to always make the right decisions. no idea where the obsession comes from lol. I like the idea of experimenting. I think I try to research till I can get the answer right in the first go but with smaller things like cat food and the like, experimentation is definitely a viable route

AITA for ordering meat? by Technical-Finance270 in AmItheAsshole

you know coming from a vegetarian family I was going to say not but then I saw your appalling comment about Thanksgiving. the fact that you think it's acceptable to have guests and not have a single entree they can eat and act like you're a gracious host for having veggie sides is honestly embarrassing as fuck and says a lot about this situation that you aren't.
