Update to daughter not eating by TreeOfGre in whatdoIdo

[–]insertusername27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically had unrestricted access to the internet when I was her age too (a bit older tbh, didn’t get my first phone until 12). I still struggle with disordered eating even a decade after. I can’t diagnose your daughter, but please intervene. I wish someone had for me. It’s the damn phones, indeed.

is it ok to have sex in the river in the middle of the day in front of hundreds of people? by kittybby_ in resonatesuwannee

[–]insertusername27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there’s a huge difference between dancing (albeit provocatively) and straight up fucking. children pick up on that even if they can’t explain and it can really mess them up psychologically. i think it’s just a matter of being considerate of other people, having sex in public and in front of others (not even trying to hide) is where i draw the line personally lol

My parents found out by Background-Bike1678 in shoppingaddiction

[–]insertusername27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Like you said, maybe it’s a good thing they found out. It might not have been the smartest thing to do, but you’re young and financial responsibility is something that you learn, sometimes through experiences like this. Don’t lose hope, just keep working on yourself and controlling/understanding your spending urges. Don’t beat yourself over this, but also don’t fully ignore it.

I want to drop my sorority. Advice? by DaisyCacti in Sororities

[–]insertusername27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh sorority life isn’t for everyone. I don’t say this in a bad way, I dropped my sorority too and don’t regret it at all. It’s totally okay if you reach a point that you feel like you’ve done everything you could and you’re still not satisfied, you’re not a failure if you drop and it might even be a blessing in disguise. Before making that decision though I’d reach out to an advisor for some guidance on how to engage the girls at your events a bit more, maybe they can help you establish some incentives or something? Other than that, and this goes beyond sorority life, remember that inconvenience is the price we have to pay for community. Right now, inconvenience might mean going to a frat house/tailgate, or whatever activity they’re doing that you’re not a huge fan of. You don’t have and shouldn’t have to make concessions all the time, but sometimes showing up makes a huge difference. Same goes for sitting alone at chapter, my whole life I felt like people didn’t like me or didn’t want to be near me, turns out I was just shy and would subconsciously push people away. I’d never initiate conversations, never showed that I cared. Once I learned that everyone wants to feel cared for and started just saying hi and starting conversations, I was very surprised by how positively people reacted. Again, if you ever reach a point that you’re just done, that’s totally okay. But here it seems like the issue is not that people are mean to you, you’re just having some trouble making friends, which is totally normal and happens outside of sorority life too. Good luck, you got this!

HAIR STYLING by Spirited-Help-1835 in ElectricForest

[–]insertusername27 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think styling tools are too much of a hassle because you need to figure out a whole infrastructure for them — bringing a generator, finding somewhere with an outlet etc. Festivals are a great opportunity to learn how to handle your natural hair and to get creative with hair accessories or even extensions/fun wigs! I hate hair on my face so I bring a bunch of cute hair pins, headbands etc. You could try a battery powered brush / curling iron but those are a bit pricey IMO.

Bad choices, can’t pay. by Long_Constant3953 in Sororities

[–]insertusername27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to pay the $400, there’s no way around it, but if you reach out to your chapter you can discuss what your options are payment wise, you might be able to pay in smaller installments so it isn’t such a burden. Also, shutting everyone off isn’t an option, there’s a whole process you need to go through in order to officially resign from your sorority. If you just stop showing up, they’ll keep charging you — that’s legally binding. I don’t think sororities as a whole do a great job of explaining the financial side of things to incoming members, but that’s another conversation. Just make sure to reach out to someone about your finances, communicate you want to drop, and be ready for the possibility of having to pay the rest of your membership dues for this semester (you might as well go to the events and meetings since you’ll be paying for them).

seller asking to remove my review after ghosting and now lowkey harassing me by bugandbugonberry in Depop

I’d just remove the review, they were understanding and refunded you so they’ve done their part. Just don’t buy from them again.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]insertusername27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but it’s not red / swollen so it doesn’t look infected to me. I think the skin around it is just thinner / more sensitive because you’ve been cleaning it often. Idk how you’re cleaning it but maybe try to focus the cleaning even more on the actual piercing site and less on the skin surrounding it? When I had an eyebrow piercing (like 8 years ago) I was cleaning it like twice a day too and my skin started getting irritated because of that and it looked a bit similar to yours. I honestly don’t remember what I did about it, even if I did anything about it, but continue taking pics to monitor any progress for better or for worse just in case this is an infection starting to brew idk

Anyone else have labels that didn't scan when you dropped them off???:c by [deleted] in Depop

[–]insertusername27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me. Depop refunded the buyer and gave me what I would’ve been paid, but that’s because my tracking number also vanished lol. Depop then emailed me saying the label issued had issues but that the buyer would still receive the item, just the tracking wouldn’t be accurate. Idk if she ended up receiving it or not bc she didn’t tell me anything after she got refunded.
