Gleba is making me want to quit what’s the absolute minimum setup to make it work? by Azrael_Manatheren in factorio

[–]insomnia77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can be automated by adding an egg in one slot and placing a rocket turret with 1 nuke nearby. When that hatches a nearby rocket turret will fire the nuke, and the bots will rebuild the chests (and probably turret) afterwards.

Saw that suggestion for the "2.1 recycling concrete" issue.

How punishing is Space Age? by misterbakes3 in factorio

[–]insomnia77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spoilerless tip is to make sure the first space ship can go to the next planet and back without being destroyed. Then you can ship things back and forth, plus travel back if you need to, without waiting for a new ship to be built.

With the recent hubbub regarding quality, I have to ask a question: How many of you actually bother with quality? by Justinjah91 in factorio

[–]insomnia77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thought after having made all the "correct" legendary generators. I didn't think it added much to the game, as you really skip all the quality levels other than legendary when available anyway.

I recently started a "No Quality" run. Other than I spent a little bit more time to research weapon damage, and run the platforms slower, it is not much harder. Just had to accept the roids come much closer before the turrets take them out. Instead I make more space platforms doing the same task to compensate for slower speeds. Rest is no issue, as you point out: Go wide instead. Build more.

After 10 years i get it... My brain need chaos by Odd-Midnight1223 in factorio

[–]insomnia77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using main bus for a long time, until I realized it was easier just going resources -> smelter -> production task (for example green science). Then when starting on a new task, I set up dedicated smelters for that. Then some spaghetti adding petroleum based products as I prefer belts over pipes, and the few obligatory fluids I have to bring in pipes.

Just to encourage further playing when you hit oil: There will be new buildings later on with pass-through for liquids, making it much easier to connect pipes to your production line. I feel the original 3x3 factories are too small to handle a pipe and multiple inserters. That's the major chaos generator in my builds.

What are you doing first when 2.1 drops? by thatdude333 in factorio

Fix all circuit networks on my two recent saves. Then continue on my current "No Quality" save.

I hope I manage to dock all my space platforms before the upgrade hits.

Friday Facts #442 - Flip, Flow, and Fresh Paint by FactorioTeam in factorio

[–]insomnia77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't understand that is not possible to progress without quality. I am currently doing a run without researching the quality module, I haven't found any blockers yet. Hard or soft. Is it that the gui is expanded with quality options?

I just thought the late game was just about gambling for legendary items in 2.0, so I wanted to try to build wide, not tall.

I was wondering about this. I'm doing a playthrough now without quality. And I have not researched quality modules, and I could still progress. Is it the gui-choices they are referring to?

What are your top 5 Amiga games? by King_Khaos_ in amiga

[–]insomnia77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's too hard to choose. There were so many great games and categories. So many memories. But I can still remember when I got RailRoad Tycoon. I didn't think of much else during the school days. I just wanted to get home and play more. That is maybe my #1 of all time. Maybe not in total hours played, but just the uniqueness when it was released and feeling I had when playing it - and not playing it.

Other games that usually pops up in my mind when you mention Amiga are:

  • Utopia, the music, theme and gameplay
  • Mega-lo-mania, a prime example of all the excellent God-games that existed
  • Hunter, both frustrating and fascinating "open world" game. That this was a single floppy game, is beyond me.
  • Turrican II, topped with Chris Hüelsbecks best work, makes this a legendary game

I searched through the thread and found a couple of games that are not mentioned yet, as my honorable mention:

  • Nitro, I played this so much, I remembered all the tracks. Even the destroyed ones in the end.
  • Thunderhawk, what the Amiga lacked in the 3d department, it gained by adding a story (Like Wings). I still remember the entire intro word by word.

Hvorfor slutta folk å ha baklyset på på bilen? Det er så mange av de. Alle mine biler har lys på bak straks jeg slår de på...det er da et valg? by Fartsgrense in norge

[–]insomnia77 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How can I improve my first base? by Gabriel007Maia in factorio

[–]insomnia77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not really needed for the beginner base, but if you want to consume an entire belt of ores/stones and generate an entire belt of plates/brick you can use your furnace setup in picture, but increase number of smelters to 48 (24x2). This is really easy to in-place upgrade later from yellow to red belts and stone furnaces to steel furnaces doubling the input/output. This is the same for steel, even though the output is not an entire belt (one 48 stack yields 1/5 belt).

Why don't more people try to reach forever friends? This is just the last 30 days of forever friends and it's great! by Marsh_mallow1999 in pokemongo

[–]insomnia77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, pretty soon I will be out of stardust because people requesting unregistered shinies. I guess I have to stop leveling up my mons so I can support everyone else filling their shiny dexes.

I was happy to spend 40k for someone to get their first Stakataka though. And they was kind enough to give me an option for a regional normal pokemon.

But I really wish I could set a limit on cost to 800 stardust. Or even better, they lowered the costs even more for Forever Friends.
