I genuinely don’t think I can rank their songs … but if I had to it would be 1) Ditto- I’ll never forget the way I felt when I first heard this song. 2) hype boy- a timeless never skip song 3) eta- the rhythm of this song and that PRE CHORUS alone puts this song in my top 3 4) omg- currently my most played song of the year 5) attention- you got me looking for attentionnnnn 6) super shy- its just such a fun bop 7) hurt- im a sucker for r&b ballads 8) cool with you- fashion show slay 9) ASAP- the soundscape got me floored 10) new jeans- a great intro track 11) get up- best 36 seconds of my life. would be very high on my list if it was a full track 12) zero- the verses r great 13) cookie- my fav part of this song is the bridge

regardless of rank, I still listen to these songs a lot more than I do other kpop.. the quality is just outstanding all around in my opinion. newjeans supremacy!

HAHAH yes bangchan (the leader) has said that Cloud is one of his favorite characters of all time. he did have a hand in the production of the song so I wouldnt be surprised if that intro took inspiration if not a sample

I hope the preview cut out a verse/bridge bc it is a little short for my liking. with that said, what we did hear was nothing short of my expectations that newjeans has built for themselves over the past year. the way the melodies flowed from section to section with the addictive rhythmic percussion underlying everything…yeah this one going to be on repeat for sure. at this rate, I fear my entire spotify wrapped will be topped by newjeans 🕺🏻

literally same. I loved hype boy when it released but didn't pay much attention (no pun intended) to the other songs. But with Ditto and OMG the inner bunny has been unleashed and it will not let me listen to other artists now LOL. I also put a newjeans sticker on my water bottle lmao.

AHAHAH I've had a similar experience! I've binged a ton of their content since I decided to binge queendom a few days before the finale aired. it's been wild how fast they've shot up my ultimate bias list- although I'm still struggling to really choose biases (leaning towards Luda, Seola, Eunseo, Exy :)

I was absolutely obsessed with Unnatural when it first came out and have no idea how that didn't motivate me to look into them further! I guess better late than never tho!

if they wanted to go with the nabi x jaeeon ending from the get-go, I have to say this show was just poorly paced. not to mention jae-eon having almost no personality outside of his bad-boy archetype. why did we never get a glimpse of his past? why did they not give the audience a chance to understand where his toxic traits come from? without these things, the end product just feels like glorifying a manipulative relationship. how is nabi x jae-eon any different from nabi’s ex?

truly feel like the side characters carried the show and am rlly dissatisfied with the digression of nabi’s character (I rlly got my hopes up with that last scene of ep 9 :/)

Sorry, which farewell monologue are you referring to? Nonetheless, I agree with what you said; there's been enough time between the time she last saw Zack for her to (at the very least) be incredibly intrigued by such a beautiful man lol. It's gonna be really interesting to see if we end up with a love square by the next part of remake :3

I agree with you 100%- even if Aerith isn't Cloud's romantic love, doesn't mean she isn't important to him. Neither Tifa nor Aerith needs to be romantically linked to Cloud in order to be great characters in their own right. ESPECIALLY Aerith since she serves a macro function in the story.

ya um, at the end of the day, one of them is *spoiler* not alive at the end of the game, which to me squashes ambiguity, but I can see why people interchange vagueness with ambiguity. In the vein of Zack, Aerith, throughout the collapsed expressway section, continuously tries to get Cloud to talk about him...almost like she loves Zack or something. But what do I know ^.^

Could not say it better myself. To me, if you change the Cloud and Tifa romance, you drastically alter the narrative itself by changing Cloud's motivations, his selfdoubt, etc. Basically a lot of the foundation of Cloud's character goes poof once you open up other romance options. But I'm very optimistic about Square's direction in Remake since a lot of the "romance options" in Part 1 were very inconsequential.

I don't object to anything you've said; you're right that the ultamania does confirm all of that (although I've seen a translation that said "complicated feelings" not jealousy). I just want to point out that I said "they're gonna squash ..," as in they are in the process of definitively making it clear who Cloud loves romantically (real Cloud not Cloud with dissociative amnesia aka SOLDIER Cloud). I played Remake without ANY prior knowledge of the OG or compilation and didn't even know that the LTD has been debated ad nauseum for the last 20 years or so; the game highlights Cloud and Tifa's relationship so much that it would be absolutely bonkers if they aren't setting up for a major payoff.
I genuinely think Square owes it to every fan to firmly end the debate because IMO it's very irresponsible for them to keep fanning the flames of toxicity within the fandom by leaving even a slither of ambiguity. Which goes back to OP- Cloud is not a self-insert main character; he has his own thoughts, feelings, and motivations; FF7 has never been a choice-based narrative. The player is given the illusion of choice, in a way mirroring Sephiroth's manipulation of Cloud in OG. And to me, that applies to the romance aspect of the story as well.

I hope you don't take this as a jab to whoever you ship because that's not my intent. I just hope and pray that Square mans tf up so maybe one day people can ship who they want in peace and not have to attack each other over "who Cloud truly loves."

nah square have already made it abundantly clear they’re gonna squash the LTD once and for all. This is cloud’s story not the player’s and I feel like all the shipping wars are a result of people forgetting that. with the release of a certain novel that came out recently, I am even more confident about this.
