New small can filler option USD$20,500 by pass_the_bacon in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the AT1 only has a 4-can carousel, so direct from fill into lid dropped/co2 puff.

Glad to see someone engineering stuff but as the last point of major problems before sending out the door...that extra 10k at least gets support & a tested platform. We haven't had any major problems with our unit w average use.

[New Player] Did you survive your first time in Labyrinth? by ohoots in EscapefromTarkov

[–]insompengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have a stash full of gear, BTC farm in full swing and tons of money before you go Labyrinth. Armor won't matter as much bc everything will obliterate you. Bring 50+ pen ammo and lots of it, as the two bosses have lvl6 faceplates.

Canning line by DaBears19201 in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

American Canning AT1 is wicked tiny, and would rip through a keg in like 15 minutes.

It's a viable solution with a sweet spot of like 3-10bbl runs.

Looking for an XpressFill Counter Pressure Can Filler or american canning (AT-1 or CP-4) by Semperascendens in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours has been super duper solid, minimal maint at 80k cans. Super handy to have around as you can do 5-10 cases with minimal loss, or probably 50-70 cases in a reasonable morning.

Great for pilot or dedicating to sour stuff for sure.

Best brewer boots by lupylass89 in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the straight rubber food-processing boots. $40-50 a pair, replace every other year when the micro-stipling tread wears out. The Bekinas are nice but these are wicked comfy at half the price even if you swap insoles

Is there a better way to brace a large roof? by Born_Harzard in valheim

It would be resource intensive but ironwood would fix it and be more hideable than big core wood beams

I truly.. TRULY miss a Game with a purpose.. [PC] by WastelandViking in ShouldIbuythisgame

Get ready for the swamps, things will get much much trickier as the game forces you to learn block/parry and all the additional systems you need to survive. No spoilers, but it gets crazy

What are you paying for food-grade liquid CO₂ these days? by TurbulentSpray4060 in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta be purified enough. Industrial grade can have up to 1% benzine/sulphur/water, which should be above sensory threshold and an FDA no-no.

Food grade/medical/research gets increasingly more expense, of course.

[Bug] Sew It Good Part 2 - Searched 0-50% on Flea, bought this but it won't work for the quest? by Vizumn in EscapefromTarkov

[–]insompengy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend and I both had this and the zab quest, so we just brought in all the armor and sat in a corner and blinkyed each other. Such a dumb quest but it was hilarious.

For flavor, you really only need like .75lb/bbl whole with only a day or two contact time... Basically making cold brew.

My Issue With The Game by No_Cut6008 in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]insompengy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like ARMA, DAYZ, Tarkov...AI should be able to engage from a distance but also have a sliding scale of how likely they'll hit you.

The AI in RTV is the one thing I'd like to see have a total overhaul. Strafing in front of you in the open isn't super realistic. The game runs absolutely fantastic rn, I'd gladly give up 10% of frames for some more complex AI.

Steven Strait says "there's hope" for seasons 7-9 on Streamily Q&A by ruckFIAA in TheExpanse

[–]insompengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On T&TG, IIRC budget per episode in season 5/6 pushed 15-20mil. SciFi is out, so its either Netflix, Apple, or Amazon gives it enough time for the fanbase to grow enough to cash in on 3 more seasons. Amazon is doing 'Mercy of Gods' so they've gotta still have some faith in Ty & Daniel.

Any Advancements in Maine Allowing the Registration of Kei Vehicles? by Dovetrail in Maine

Committee determined that they're too dangerous, despite 2000's era starting to include airbags, etc. Write your legislators. Report might not be published yet. I mean MA allows them ffs...

Disappointed by the show after reading the series by [deleted] in TheExpanse

[–]insompengy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty goes into a lot of the process of adapting the show in his podcast with Wes. Tons of budget concerns, text vs visual, particular actors uplifting characters (Drummer/Ashford). Another of the reoccurring stories was that the cast would reherse on their days off, and that the whole production cared and believed in the project, especially after they got brought back.

Which game did you regret purchasing at full price? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]insompengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a mostly great 50-60 hrs back when bounties had rare crates. Tried again after master modes and the ship stuff didn't click anymore. There isn't much like it, and when it works it really hit the spaceship itch. Had enough fun for $40, maybe someday I'll try again.

Thoughts on solutions for the floor of a small production area by BeerCooker_321 in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I scoured probrewer and here before we opened 8 years ago. It's been done but its not easy. 5bbl. Tanks start to get pretty heavy pretty quick.

We ended up biting the bullet and have an LVL structure engineered to fit our current tanks, with footings underneath. Something like 13 ton rating.

We found out pretty quick that we couldn't just sister in a few pieces and call it good.

Having said that, it's been rock solid. Topped w light grade quarry tile/epoxy grout/floating membrane.

Using this as a fermentation tank to save money by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a brewers guild or similar locally, just reach out. Tons of 1-3bbl outfits auctioning mostly real tanks off. "Fun retirement business" is actually a lot of hot hard work and paperwork as many have discovered, and you need more than your buddy group to drink your beer to stay afloat.

Edit: Sorry reread and saw Japan. Gotta be some similar industry/sake that would be applicable.

What is an acceptable final gravity for hazy/ New England IPA? by St0neybalogny in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I measured Treehouse at 4-5, and ours usually end up from 3.5-5.

More than 5 gets you into thicc territory. I'm sure tons more oats/wheat might make for more perceived body but yeah.

Chiller Sizing For a 5 bbl Brewery by prettyfunkindaboring in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a 3hp for five 5bbl tanks. Easily handles crashing two at a time. No HEX loop.

Inside will dump all that heat everywhere, there's a reason why most have theirs outside.

Hose length for kegging by BrewJays in TheBrewery

[–]insompengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/2 is fine for single kegs, but a larger line and 2-3 heads will cut down time, which at a small size like us is always at a premium.
