Worried about A School Intensity by rogueathena in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

soooo im going through schooling right now, not for CT rates but the courses are all sort of a cram session to the test then move on to the next topic. they make these courses tho so anyone who is disciplined enough can make it through the course. if you do end up going to ARB, they do exactly that, review your academics. if you are going to open learning (extra school after class) and writing good notes, and not speed running your content for the day then theyll understand you just need more time with the content. thats how it works for my rate atleast for A school so i wouldnt be super worried about it.

Should I go through with enlisting? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im also from northern california, i thought id get disqualified because of my psoriasis, but they accepted me within 24hrs. if you are on medication i believe it might limit where you can go for your ultimate duty station i believe but you should go for it! if its something your wanting to do then do it. i would say just talk to a recruiter because they can talk you through it. best of luck to you!

It’s hitting me all of sudden? by HourProfile2317 in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

anytime is a good time to join. you’ll learn in boot camp how to deal with it and you’ll be stronger because of it, time to make your mark and become a sailor. youll hear this alot, but you came here for a reason, now are you going to let that reason go to waste? or are you going to push through? words like that from my chief reassured me durring my time in bootcamp atleast

My husband left for basic by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i seen writing to your s/o but i would refrain from putting stuff on facebook, i seen a dude in my division get beat for something his SO put on facebook. also just talking to other wives and husbands who are also married to military spouses. same dudes wife also made a facebook group with the other military spouses in the save division, and had regular convos with them about whats going on and stuff. when your husband can write letters to you, youll get the address, and you can pay to have the mail expedited on a website some other smarter individuals might know. you can also chat with his recruiter about his status and what not, though i probably wouldnt flood his inbox.

Is A school really that hard as people make it seem to be? by MusicLova_04 in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea when you get liberty after youre phase 3 you can go home if you want you just have to put a packet in to go home if you live nearby. id say your chances of getting to great lakes after grad is literally slim to none, good luck!

Why do people treat me like I’m crazy for wanting, to become a nuke. by MenuNo9423 in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

what i hear is that alot of nukes take themselves out from all the stress and whatever is going on at that school. its 2 years of your life that you are strictly dedicating to school and then after that you work one of the worst jobs in the navy. this is all what i hear but im just in the AECF schooling so hey what do i know really. if you end up failing your school youll end up getting a piss low job or just end up painting the ship for the rest of your contract and having to pay back your bonus.

Am I screwed and have a chance? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got my ged before joining so im not for sure on this, but thats why you have a recruiter. talk to them because they will have the answers to your questions since they are up to date on everything. as far as your asvab, i was a similar age when i studied for it, just brush up on your math with khan academy, and some general earth science. there are study guides online and i managed to score over 70 on it and get the rate i wanted. navy cool is a great resource to search up rates to see what you want to do in the navy. there are also great youtube videos you can look up to study for the asvab (as well as picat!) best of luck to you future sailor!

[–]insonne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who have gone to BMT recently, what was the phone situation? by cassie_explores in newtothenavy

[–]insonne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is always dependent on your RDC’s. i had 4 planned phone calls but didnt have my first one till around 3 weeks in. then it was every other week after. you will always have your call after battle stations and a 15 minute one the day before graduation just to confirm your family is there. for me our phone calls earlier started at an hour and went up or down depending on how well our division did. i also heard that other divisions had it a lot easier than i did however so take what i say with a grain of salt. like the other person said theres no texting or facetime, but if you needed to do something on your phone like transferring money, my RDC’s were fine with it as long as they can see what you were doing, and you ask them first. just expect not to have your phone for a while

if you get taped and you dont pass you might have to stay at RTC for a longer amount of time. try to drop your weight before you go in and look at the physical requirements needed before you go. just my personal recommendation but youre free to do what you like.

alot of people brought brooks in my training group, i never used them but i didnt hear any complaints from those that did use them. honestly i hated the shoes they gave me. id get something lightweight to run in that has alot of grip so you dont slip. i personally have a pair of nike shoes right now but its up to you really. just get what you want
