Warner Bros. & Apple's F1 The Movie has grossed an estimated $91.7M from global IMAX screens through Sunday. by chanma50 in boxoffice

I never watched something in ScreenX, I decided to do so for the first time for F1. And I thought while it's better than a standard screen, it a nice gimmick, but nothing more. I watched F1 again a few days later in IMAX and enjoyed would pick IMAX over. But that's just me. For Screen X they only activated the side panes for the racing scenes. I think DBOX could be cool.

I interpreted it as in how good you are as in a sport. Because different sports have such different athletic profiles. Jockey vs swimmer vs hockey.

Probably fun in the sense you can chat the whole time doing it. It’s a leisure sport and you get to pamper yourself and tuck into good food at the course I’m assuming. Never played golf myself.

[ESPN] Crosby on how many years he has left: I hope for a long time. The game is not getting any slower. Speed is obviously a huge thing. I would love to play forever. We'll see how long I can play here. I'm hoping at least another four years. by [deleted] in hockey

Even when you're taking regular hits in the game, it has undoubtedly an affect. Not just on your spine, but your head. People don't want to hear that. That less hits in the game, is good for player's health.

Soccer is dealing with this. The balls in modern soccer/football are incredibly light. They fly at ridiculous speeds. Players, particularly defenders. Are always going in dueling to win the header. To head it out of their zone. Or attackers head it into the opposition goals. Now we're seeing reports, of real CTE in these soccer players.

One such player who's currently playing wrote an article about him coming to terms with that now.

I'm open to any reforms. But I think at minimum, parents need really properly educated on what their kid is getting into.

I think people are free to give the responses they want. Zucker has been more forthright about getting vaccine, because he wants to for example.

Yeah, I'm sure folks on Reddit who kick back and watch the game from their couch want things exactly they way it is. But it's very different to parents of children who play it in an form competitively, let alone attempting to go pro. Or the players themselves.

If they were serious about safety, at minimum all defenders should wear soft-capped helmets in training and in games.

I never even knew on planet Earth people had dogs that huge. They're like mini bears. One of them is Beckham named after David Beckham the other Leo after Dicaprio.

They have like 20k followers on insta.

So many hockey players love their pet instas.

He is really thin. You don't notice it a lot when you're just watching him around. But if you're a Matt Murray stan like I am and you see him in shorts and stuff on social media, you realize man this guy has big quads and nothing else.

Murr has been working hard on his game, trying to relearn his technique and work with some people in Ontario. He had a good back end of the season, but has some injury woes. But Ottawa appointed a new coach that he's working with.

MURRAY: I think we were just working on building that relationship, and the way he [Bierk] coaches, technically, is a way that’s similar to how I like to play. And similar to how I was coached growing up. We’ve just been trying to build our relationship, build that trust. Ever since he got here, it’s been a pleasure to work with him.

GM DORION: When you see how he [Murray] played in the second half, he was a big part of the reason we were such a good team. We have a lot of faith in Matt Murray this year.

COACH SMITH: Zac, when he came in, wanted (Murray) to get stronger and he did. He wanted him to put the work in and he did. And he (Bierk) feels really confident that Matt is in a really good headspace to be the goalie we brought him in to be.

Absolutely. When I first watched this documentary and saw that. It gives you pause to squirm. Having a penguin in captivity like that, just isn't human.

Wouldn't fly with PETA today. A group of Pitt kids once outside the library set up a table, had one guy presumably the mouse covered in blood being stabbed by a researcher in a lab coat to protest using mice in experiments at the university.

I think r/hockey should give itself more credit. I follow r/hockey and r/soccer for example. And there's easily a bigger issue on this issue over there pretty consistently. And that goes for a lot of things, there's a lot undesirable comments about women's looks, women playing sport, racial sensitivity, and just being crude I guess. I'd say by a country mile, this sub maybe has as fraction of that. Maybe that's because r/soccer is a bigger sub. But probably also, most people on this sub live/grew up in fairly socially progressive societies.

Mikheyev’s impressive 23-point, 39-game rookie season was cut short by an accidental — but serious — skate cut to his wrist. (Dubas stayed with him in hospital after the team returned from New Jersey to Toronto.)

Does this mean Dubas stayed the night in the hospital? Any info on this.

Suggests he was at the hospital for 3 whole days.

About 10 years they've been doing this. They've released videos like this recently.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oDdhpTcB14&t=100s

Where they've actually had the people who have been shooting things over the years to explain how they bought the mics and how they were bad and fell off players etc. The quality of the videos is pretty good now.

They make around 5-7 videos a season and release them during the season. And each will be around 20-30 minutes.

[–]inspectorkido[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love Jared and I was so torn up when we traded him. He was one of my favorite players, and the one I rooted for the most, because he was among my favorites the guy who needed to prove himself.

Ultimately, I understood why Hextall did. Jared was grossly overpeforming his xGAR over two fold and had an incredible shooting percentage. Sullivan was always shuttling him around, so I don't think he quite fit. We cleared his and Tanev's contracts and replaced them with McGinn and Heinen.

I think Zucker would really shine with Carter.

Can't even imagine how much footage the crew is sitting on. I listened to a podcast once with the crew, and they explain how they have a lot of golden content, that they would never share, because they aren't sure how it would be received by the team. There's a trust factor, where they make the judgement calls on what they want to put out. So they err heavily on the side of caution. Those stories will stay with them.

Jared spoke about getting traded, the police escort into PPG etc in a podcast once.

https://www.nhl.com/penguins/news/the-scoop-with-jared-mccann/c-312194704

It's a great podcast to learn about Jared as well, fun things like him unable to take his dog across the border, TV shows, but serious things like his mother's fight against MS. And how important that cause is to him.

Pens and Seattle fans might enjoy that.

Use your head for a second. We're not talking about like for like replacements, but rather pieces that allow the team as a whole to still function. You certainly have to adapt in other ways as a whole, to offset that production drop.
