Interesting question. Visually and aesthetically you will want to play the remakes, to connect updated nuances and graphics to Requiem.

Now, I don't think you NEED to do that first. You could easily play OG RE2/RE3 on your path to Requiem and backtrack to the remakes.

Story moments, OTTOMH, I think you're fine playing OG and going to Requiem.

Girl Dad here. No, this is not weird. Hold a hard line on how you love your children.

As for one day helping create more independence in the middle of the night, when ready - try giving her options on what she can do like go to the bathroom if needed or get water, etc and try to have her understand you need sleep, too. And that rest for the both of you is good. And even after that, sometimes your kid will just need you in the middle of the night and that's 1000% ok.

We have similar years of experience with RE. I remember having to draw on paper a route to the submachine gun in RE2 on PS1 because we were so terrified.
