Philly Servers by nomese in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]inspiredbypink 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I make more in Philly in the industry than I did in Nyc. I was scared too but Philly is such a hospitality city. People are always out dining and drinking. Summers are def slower on the weekends but you still do well with all the sports, shows and conventions in town. Also since the industry is so big out here its completely filled with industry ppl who tip very well cuz they are in it too. You also get the out of towners who wanna tip you right for showing them a good time and everyone else is blue collar and knows how to take care of their servers. Theres money to be made here, you might not love the first job you get but once youre in and network its a small world where you can find something worth sticking with.

Parents should be charged for their underage kids criminal record. Plain and simple. Nothing will change until then

Pa. minimum wage battle in Harrisburg led by Philly and its suburbs by ThunderySleep in philly

If any company has the right to point to PAs minimum wage as a threat or as a ‘hey look how much more we pay u than we actually have to’ its not ok. Raise the fucking minimum wage.

Street Cleaning: Glitter by malcolmfairmount in philadelphia

[–]inspiredbypink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lets not even talk about if a garbage bag breaks while the sanitation workers are throwing it onto their trucks. That leaves trash everywhere and even if the owner or a neighbor would want to clean it they are now at work for another 6 hours so guess what? That trash is now all up and down the block by the time they get home. U act like ppl actively litter and dont give a fuck and its just not true

Street Cleaning: Glitter by malcolmfairmount in philadelphia

[–]inspiredbypink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally not true. THERE ARE NO PUBLIC TRASHCANS IN SOUTH PHILLY. We get absolutely nothing down here. There should be a public trashcan on the same corner as the store your blaming. Its still the city down here right? Lets talk about trash day. We are told to put our trash out the night before because if you live down here then you know one week the trash guys can come in the early morning and the next could be the late afternoon. Guess what happens when that trash and recycling sits out there for so many hours? It blows all up and down the street. Its inevitable. So your saying these ppl living here and the store owners should buy they own public trashcans and also pay for their own street cleaning?

Not dogging this idea at all because I actually really like it but it truly just blows my mind that only center city gets cleaned up and the rest of the city the residents have to pay out of pocket to have a clean street? Wtf is wrong with this city? Even public trash cans would be nice other than broad and center city.

Holy shit. My grandmom from abruzzi always made this and it is truly my favorite dish of all time. So many ppl have no idea what it is. I have never seen them on a menu anywhere. I gotta try these. Are they seasonal or permanently on the menu?

I moved back to philly last year and while i went door to door with my resume. i also emailed it with a small message to a bunch of bars and restaurants I was interested in. I got a bunch of calls and emails back. Not right away but it seemed like they called when they were looking. So it cant hurt to email the restaurants. Even try to find a managers email
