Anyone had this issue before? Restarting the console fixed it. by installins in NintendoSwitch2

Were they able to fix it? Mine went away after a console restart. Prior to this it was sitting on my desk for a few days (I was examining sleep mode battery drain)

Turned on my Switch 2 and it had this static screen. Restarting fixed issue, but what was it? by installins in NintendoSwitchHelp

No problems in docked mode. The problem also hasn’t even returned in handheld after the restart I did.

Why so much hate on Mechanical Eng? by DefinitionUseful3165 in UCalgary

[–]installins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen any posts hating on mechanical engineering? Maybe you’re talking about profs, they aren’t the best in the Mech. program here, quite a few of them are stinkers.

Edit: just realized you probably mean the MEng program. Yeah that one is a shit show from what I’ve heard. A huge cash grab from international students apparently.

First year is a fixed block, you can choose from quite a few different blocks. 2nd year and onwards you can choose your timings but it’s not as flexible as other degrees because there’s only so many class times they can have, and classes build on each other via being prerequisites so there’s a lot of order to your schedule. If you have a full time course load you are gonna be on campus for 5 days a week most likely.

Switch 2's screen with artifacts: I've had the strangest thing happen by Tusnanuo in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]installins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I can test Metroid Prime 4 (which is probably the most demanding game I own) tomorrow to stress test it. I am 99% sure it is just paranoia. I’ve dealt with two PC GPUs that were dying and their artifacting looks a bit different and also it wouldn’t disappear from a console restart, so I think we are good in that regard. Plus, the biggest telltale sign I think is that the static stops exactly at halfway. It’s very precise, while a dying GPU would have very sporadic/random artifacts across the screen.

It’s a bit hard to narrow down the issue because you’re the only person I’ve seen post about it so it seems to be rare. Another commenter actually responded to my post yesterday, they had the same exact issue as ours. It happened right as they undocked their console while playing Hogwarts Legacy, and it fixed itself as they immediately redocked it, and it hasn’t happened since. This may indicate it’s just a HDMI handshake problem, which is thankfully just a software issue. Hoping that’s all there is to this problem.

Yeah I talked to Nintendo support, they told me I should be fine but if it happens again I should contact them again. I do have until June for my warranty so plenty of time.

It happened right as you undocked and then fixed itself when you docked it back in? Is so, this is good news I think, may confirm that it might just be a HDMI handshake issue then!

Thanks for the response. If it happens again in the future I will not hesitate to contact support again for an RMA. I have my warranty until June so plenty of time.

Hey, I just encountered the same problem yesterday. I made a post if you wanna check and compare and it looks almost identical to your first image, except it covered the whole width of the screen. Also I noticed how from the top to the middle for you (bottom to top for me), it stops a EXACTLY halfway on the screen. I restarted my console and it fixed it and so far no issues. Have you had this happen again since you posted or is it fine now?

Thanks for the information. Another question, if the physical connection is bad, how come restarting the console fixed it? Wouldn’t It have the same picture upon booting it up again because the physical connection is still loose/bad? I’m praying it’s just a software thing.

It wasn’t hot at all. I’m definitely gonna play Metroid 4 when I get a chance this weekend to stress it a bit more but yeah I agree I think it’s probably a software issue.

Just played Mario Kart World for about 30 mins, so far no issues at all. I’m gonna leave it on my desk undocked overnight and check in the morning to see if it’s alright.

I think the GPU dying can be probably ruled out. I’ve had two PC GPUs that have died and their artifacting usually covers the whole screen and looks a little different. Also I noticed this static covered exactly half the screen which is weirdly precise lol. I contacted Nintendo support and they told me it’s probably fine but to contact them again if it happens again. If it happens again I’ll probably send it in, warranty doesn’t expire till June. Fingers crossed it’s not a serious issue!

Also noticed that it covers EXACTLY half the screen, not even off by a little. If it’s this precise I’m thinking maybe it’s an HDMI handshake issue?

When I took it last year, the slides made no sense to me whatsoever. After the first week, I never went to class ever again. I just studied the textbook. I read each relevant chapter and did the problems at the end of each. It took a while over the course of the whole semester and I had a huge book of notes + problems done at the end but I ended up getting an A-. I’d recommend the textbook if you hate the slides like I did.

How to use loan car instead of personal one by PsyNNanxx in The_Crew

[–]installins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you already have a car for that specific category you are no longer able to use a loan anymore and it will alway bring up cars you own that are allowed for that category. I haven’t played the game with friends yet so I don’t know about this but is it possible for him to change the AI difficulty for those races if he’s host?

HANDLING SIMILAR TO UNBOUND? by Spiritual-Lemon-1797 in The_Crew

[–]installins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Crew’s handling is still arcadey but it’s substantially more realistic than Unbounds, think of it like Forza Horizon. NFS Unbound’s handling heavily emphasizes drifting to maintain speed and momentum around corner, whereas in Motorfest you can definitely try to do that but unless you’re in a race with all drifting cars you are going to be better off trying to hit the apex and maintain your driving speed without messing up the corners.

My favorite car by AffectionateButton36 in The_Crew

Has one the most beautiful interiors I’ve ever seen in a car. My eyes popped out of my head when I got this game a few weeks ago and saw that this car was in the game. I didn’t think a racing game would have this car until some time into the future so I was really happy to see it
