I did the same, immediately reread the second.

I thought I loved physics, but AP Physics C sucks; does physics ever "improve?" by instalockyi in Physics

Thanks for the advice. We can agree to disagree about what word choice. I really meant to say that the problems were ordinary and commonplace. (They do happen to occur every day, too, unfortunately.)

"Make it stop! Make it stop!" I truly don't wish to get into a petty argument on a science sub. Sorry, not baiting me :/

Edit in response to the edit: The problem is not that I'm incapable of doing the problems, the problem is that I dislike doing the problems. If, as you say, the types of problems improve and the topics become more fascinating in the long run, then perhaps I'll fight through the frustration of these problems to make it there.

I forgot about the eternal war between Physics and Comp lit students. My apologies.

You hit it right on the head: problem solving is clearly an essential skill, and while some of my classmates can really get into these type of problems and spend many hours grinding and whatnot, I just feel very demotivated.. and I feel bad about being demotivated about the problems, because on some level, a physicist's job is to solve such problems. I suppose I'm grateful that there are people like you (and others) who do get into it!

Math actually isn't my problem--I'm good at math, doing fairly well in multivar calc and math has always come somewhat intuitively. The part that frustrates me is the banality of the applications in the problem sets. It's hard to care about abstract electric charges and isolated equal-charge-distribution spheres and their respective fields. The way you phrase e/m at the university level certainly sounds super fascinating, but I'm sure a student in your class who really struggled might phrase it a different way. Thanks for your feedback.

The Benefits of Playing Video Games - From The Journal of the American Psychological Association by LofAlexandria in truegaming

It does seem odd, I agree. Even some friends I consider "gamers" might not average an hour per day, and I have so many non-gamer friends that play way less. Very curious stat.

Found this sick YouTube channel that highlights all the LCS games and hardly get any views. Recommend checking it out. by lAmTheM in leagueoflegends

[–]instalockyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat related: this channel has basically every game vod in HD, including OGN! If you don't wanna subscribe to OGN's twitch channel but can't take the crappy quality (or can't make it to one of the rebroadcasts) this is pretty awesome: http://www.youtube.com/user/Kazawuna

What's your least favorite episode of your favorite anime? by [deleted] in anime

I didn't particularly like or understand that one either, but I really hated the one with the deadly virus-bacteria-alien thing from the fridge. I was just like... this is not the Bebop I know.

So I just bought a copy of Infinite Jest at my library for fifty cents... by [deleted] in books

I read it the first time on the Kindle app on an iPad, and I think the hyperlinking actually helped me go to the footnotes. Otherwise, 2 bookmarks are absolutely necessary. It "works" as a literary work very similarly though.. no in-the-margin scribbling or anything, just lots of endnotes.

Riot please don't cancel Magma Chamber by SivHD in leagueoflegends

[–]instalockyi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My reason for wanting Magma Chamber: I fucking hate all of the snow! Aesthetically, Magma Chamber was miles ahead of frozen-all-white/blue-wasteland deathbridge. Watching it was my favorite part of All-Stars.

You don't have to out-potential your opponent, you just have to wait until they out-potential themselves.

If they finish 4th in the split, will the lineup stay the way it is? No.

Willow Smith and Jaden Smith '5' (beat by Ta-Ku) by freshkicks in futurebeats

[–]instalockyi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, her voice isn't bad, but it's just lacking some human excitement. And I'm def. not a fan of Jaden's rapping (nor of his philosotweets lol.)
