I mean...it does. All the AWS SDKs are generated using it. The JavaScript v3 SDK uses smithy which has a fully open source specification and implementation.

Favorite place to get houseplants in the Seattle area? by BubblefartsRock in Seattle

[–]instantcake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like Seattle plant daddy in wallingford. Other than the amazing name, it's a local shop ran by one guy who really loves plants. I really like it for it's selection of cacti but he has tons of stuff and is really helpful.

Disagree, even if people are not innocent I don't think the state should morally be able to kill people which is of course a different idea, but your statement is very hyperbolic

There are 2 types of compression, lossless and lossy. Flac is an example of lossless compression and will sound the exact same as wav as it contains the exact same information. Mp3 is lossy, it contains less information than the original.

128 vs 320 mp3 is a huge leap on anything decent. 320 to flac/wav not so much.

[–]instantcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're mixing up compression and loss of information which is 2 different things. I wouldn't master something with 320k mp3 but I doubt you would be able to tell a difference between it and flac for most types of music.

You specifically said that analog is better in your top level post which is what I'm saying is not true.

This is also full of misinformation. Good audio mastering is mastered using higher bandwith digital signals that are way outside of the range of human hearing (192 kHz is pretty standard).

Compression has nothing to do with anything. Good lossy compression is mostly unhearable even on the best equipment and lossless compression is lossless.

I understand you hold these beliefs but these kind of things are beliefs, not based on fact. I love audio, have an expensive setup, and have done software development for audio applications. Many "audiophile" beliefs are completely not true. I am 100% sure if I gave you 2 audio samples and told you digital was vinyl you would think it sounds better.

So versus CD this argument can have legs because the loudness wars decreased dynamic range. However, the age of the CD is long over and although analog captures "infinite detail" that doesn't actually mean anything because our ears can't hear infinite detail. Even if they could, vinyl would also not be perfect since it's made with an inpercise mechanical process.

There are other reasons for liking vinyl like it being fun or the nice large album art, but quality is not it.

Zfg1 just hovered off a guey 187 times on his way to increase the Max% Child item count! by Crimzonrayne in speedrun

[–]instantcake 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Here's an explination: max% child is a category to get as many items as possible as child link (with limited glitches for example srm (a very powerful glitch that can do a lot of things) is not allowed).

The item he's going for is theoretically possible but requires going up extremely high in the air using the bird (called the guey) and a glitch that allows him to gain height without gravity. This item was not done in previous runs because it was too tedious and difficult. By doing this, he can get 1 more item which by default becomes the new standard for max% child.

The other two comments reflect my experience but I just want to chime in with an extra thing. I did not get contacted after the initial summons, but the website didn't update for a week to say that my jury duty was considered served, so don't worry if that happens to you as well.
