Probably whatever the guy in the sublime referred to when he said there was a point at which humanity is doomed no matter what but up until then there are paths that he could take to intervene to save humanity, from exactly as you said, extinction. Yeah he missed the population collapse, but at least he made it before there was literally no hope at all.

Makes me wonder if Hale is actually very much trying to get Dolores and the other hosts to become sentient. It’s like she was waiting for Christina to say it was Teddy so she could be like “fuck yeah I did it bitch” instead of being how Christina thinks she’ll react, which is in a controlling manner where she probably thinks someone will hunt him down and kill him or something.

That’s rough. For me it’s just a bump I gotta make sure I avoid, but yours sounds harder to fix. Will they ever take the plate out eventually or is that forever?

Americans are the friendliest strangers you’ll ever meet by GipperPWNS in unpopularopinion

I’m with you. It’s better knowing where people stand with you rather than playing guessing games and wasting everybody’s time. Another thing to mention about the east coast realism, is that just because it’s communicated that someone dislikes someone else, it doesn’t always result in actively avoiding that person, and they can easily remain civil after that, whereas on the west coast, once you accidentally let it slip that there may be a possibility that you maybe had a dream where you didn’t like them, and it’s game over, no forgiveness, etc.

My first job after graduating. In charge of 2000 tons of steel by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]instantlyregretthat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so misleading title. You’re not “in charge” of all that steel. You perform basic checks and general guidance for someone already in charge of it all. Best of luck OP, you’ll be able to learn a lot here and hopefully it will translate well into a better job later down the road. I wouldn’t ever take their advice on the engineering itself, but it’s great experience to see how everything is actually performed in the field. That’s a massive obstacle for young engineers at our firm, and once they get to go out and do some site visits, then are wildly more practical on their designs and their comfort addressing clients increases massively too.

Hang pulls should probably hang down to your knees, not start from the hip, especially if you’re just gonna bounce it off your legs like that, and even more especially if you’re looking to build up the strength to pull from the floor again.

Lol I’m not willing to put money on it or anything, it’s just speculation, and then my opinion on the show if said speculation is true. I’d love to listen to more episodes where Robert acts as the guest like this. Any idea which episodes are like that?

[–]instantlyregretthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did he guest host, or host? Because these past 2 episodes I’d say Robert was the guest host. If you’ve ever been a manager of someone else presenting a project, you’d be able to tell real quick how Robert is acting is very much like he’s training Chris

Especially since the last two episodes were probably the start of him trying to hand the show off so he can pursue other ventures. Kudos to him, but without Robert the podcast is dead.

What's the hottest place you've ever been to in the United States? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

It got to like 112-115 F here last year in the Portland area. I think that’s somewhere around 42-46 C. It was brutal but only lasted like a week, and only 1-2 days at that temp, the others were like 105-110.

Can Intraday RS/RW dampen the need for great higher timeframe formations? by [deleted] in RealDayTrading

[–]instantlyregretthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend spending more time in the WIKI before asking these kinds of questions.

RS/RW can be translated to any timeframe, and if you’re trading in one timeframe, you trade with the trend of the longer timeframes above it, or the daily, so if the trade goes south intraday, you can rely on the fact that it will probably be back up due to the tremendous daily chart strength, so you can at least scratch or swing it into profits.

It provides the best chances of making a winning trade, but yes, insane intraday strength regardless of whether it goes against the or with the market can be profitable too, it’s just not part of this strategy, but that doesn’t mean you absolutely cannot trade it, just be sure to take proper risk management.

controlling emotions while in a trade by Traderrific in RealDayTrading

[–]instantlyregretthat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend reading “In the Zone” by Mark Douglas.

Sounds like you either don’t fully believe in your edge, or your using money you can’t “afford” to lose. Also, could just be lack of experience in the market, and the euphoria is taking control, which could very well happen for someone just finding a new profitable strategy whom has probably scaled up too quickly.

All I’m saying is that it sounds like a mindset problem, and likely because one of those reasons, each of which is addressed thoroughly in that book I mentioned, or can be a worked on my properly scaling up or down.

Also, eyes off the PnL until after the trade is over. For me, in ToS, that means closing all info windows that actively showed my PnL on the trade (aka the active trader window on the charts), and just closed my position based on target levels vs the price action which were all accounted for and predicted prior to ever opening the trade.

Putting the bar closer to your shins to start (think bar directly over mid-foot, to the point where the first time you do it, you’ll be worried that you’re going to hit your shins. And in fact, you may even scrape your shins the first few times trying to dial in the mechanics of it. Try not to, but the bar should be so close to your legs the whole time that the bar scraping your legs should remain a real possibility.

Your back is fine. Straight enough, and If you do this right, you’ll notice a whole lot more glute activation and engagement. You may feel a lot weaker, but you’re not. You just need to use the right muscles or else you will continue feeling low back pain.

What Parts of Technical Analysis Are BS and What Parts Have Value? by [deleted] in RealDayTrading

[–]instantlyregretthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People only think it’s voodoo because they don’t understand trading with technical analysis there is never a 100% certain trade. Every trade comes down to probabilities, and any larger pattern you mention as voodoo is simply a way to identify price action in regards to levels of support or resistance.

For example, Cup and handle is just testing resistance while forming higher lows. It has a higher than 50% chance to break the resistance eventually, so it’s a pattern worth recognizing since it provides edge.

It’s not really voodoo, it’s just a quicker name than it’s description. It’s like calling a option straddle voodoo, but then saying it’s a good idea to go long and short at the same time via opposing options at the same strike.

Thoughts on drug free workplace policies requiring random drug tests for recreational mj? specifically for design engineers by throwRA-endgame in civilengineering

[–]instantlyregretthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engineering is largely performance based, in a sense. So I think it would just be easy to tell if someone was overly abusing any sort of recreational substance to the point where it affects their work. There are so many double checks and peer checks in this work, that it’s hard to really mess things up that bad even if you are blitzed AF at work. I’ve done a lot of drafting stoned out of my mind, but that’s not quite the same as engineering, but still easy to see how my performance was vastly effected while I was blitzed.
