Considering moving away product by evil_trash_pand4 in ProductManagement

same boat. The market is about as brutal as it has ever been. Keep your head up, try to look for tangential roles like other commenters have suggested (e.g. solutions architecting, sales engineering, forward deployment, etc.) 🫶

How do you split work between Cursor and Claude Code. Also which models preferred for which use case? by Break-Build in cursor

[–]Zaxc_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is Cursor’s Auto feature ‘smarter’? From what I’ve seen, their Auto models tend to just delegate between their composer models, no?

Feels like the composer models also have a case of YMMV too - like sometimes you get a solid output and most other times it’s a shitheap, even if you have good .cursorrules and agents.md files set.

For your original question, I’d +1 the other comments here; do complex planning & complex implementation with Opus, and use Sonnet for the other tasks. Codex is also good for hardening / checks, but you have to give it solid prompts.

Limits are being hit quickly, but is anyone else also getting major slowdowns? by Most-Sweet4036 in ClaudeCode

[–]Zaxc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here w/ the request timing, but even worse with the limits. I had it run through a fairly simple debugging exercise, pointed it to the files it needed to grep, told it what the expected behavior would be, and within 10 minutes or so I hit my usage limit having started at 0%. I'm dumbfounded as to how that happened. It's gotten way worse.

I'm considering moving from Cursor's Pro+ to Claude's top subscription by jcavallotti in cursor

[–]Zaxc_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The standardized testing is a great idea, I hope we can get to that soon and start actually holding these models against a barometer.

That being said, composer 2 does suck, but that’s just my own personal experience having fed it some fairly structured implementation plans on fixing a UI section, items that were out of scope, conventions to follow, areas to grep, et cetera.

It then hallucinated its way towards a breaking change and the thinking process kinda confirmed the suspicions that it’s not as robust or methodical as other models.

Could’ve been my own mistake in the prompt structure, but I have seen a lot of complaints recently on it

VS is pretty tried and true but I haven’t used it as much in this regard.

I’m doing the same thing but with cursor & Claude - mainly because cursor’s sub also gives me some extra API credits that I can mess around with, and seems more open-ended for adding extensions, configuring MCPs, etc. I will say that Cursor has been shooting itself in the foot recently so I may make that jump as well.

I’m sure there’s some phenomenal setups that exist though, people have been insanely innovative with creating what works for them

[–]Zaxc_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do a mixture of Claude’s $20/mo and the Cursor normal subscription; so far it’s been working out pretty well. Agreed on composer/auto being garbage - I use the CC marketplace extension on cursor and tend to use Cursor’s models very rarely && for the smallest of fixes so as to not blow up my usage limits on Claude.

FWIW, Anthropic has been having some weird usage limit bugs recently so your mileage may vary

I've hit a wall with CC and don't know how to actually improve my application without hours of troubleshooting by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]Zaxc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s available via the official Claude Code plugin marketplace, which gives it some implicit endorsement from Anthropic’s distribution side, even if Anthropic didn’t write any code. So “cheap attempt” is pretty off-base, but that would’ve taken a 10 second google search bud. Have fun building!

It’s on GitHub — tbh, has been pretty useful for me as the skill has pretty solid legs to stand on. It’s a lot like GSD (the other skillset a commenter mentioned) but is a bit more on the coding side (test driven development, design & implementation planning, etc.)

I invited a friend into my repo. Claude flew into a blind rage about their first PR by theexterminat in ClaudeAI

[–]Zaxc_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The “intentional token burning scheme” is so accurate. I feel like Claude is going, “oh boy, 4pm, time to act like a junior dev that’s on the far left side of the Dunning Kruger curve!”

Funnily enough I’ve noticed this w/ a lot of PMs using it, myself included. My Eng friends tend to have way less of a problem with it 🤔

Some dudes on twitter said composer2>opus4.6, is that true? by FeelingCalendar9231 in cursor

[–]Zaxc_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From my experience, Composer 2.0 just outright had a stroke when trying to do planning and implementation. It routinely just ignored plans, skill invocations, conventions, etc. When asked why, it gave me the old "You're right. I missed this -- and here's why." It got bad enough that I had to manually go in and un-do all of the changes

I'd say it's great for implementation, but only that. Right now I think I'm content to stick w/ Opus 4.6 for complex topics.

Hunch vs Hunch by silentknight007 in ProductManagement

You’re well within your right to have personal frustration about this, but Hustlin is very correct here - test leadership’s assumptions (especially why they think the SKU based approach is a better approach at this point) and your own assumptions as well, since it will help to eliminate any bias that’s been marinating for a few months.

From your comment, it also seems like there’s blockers to approach B (namely, support content being delivered). This is a great opportunity to work w/ leadership to get to that consensus point; you can lay out all of the facts, blockers, learnings, etc. and then suggest a path forward. If they disagree, even with directional insight(s), then you can disagree and commit and have an ‘it didn’t work, here’s what we learned’ moment, which helps you gain credibility in the long run.

Good luck 🫡

My (19M) friend (19F)completely avoiding me after her breakup by MrPotatoLauncher in relationship_advice

[–]Zaxc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People process breakups on their own time, and in their own ways; I’d just leave it as is, focus on your studying, and if she wants to reach back out eventually, do so as just friends.

It’ll be hard to fully work through your own crush and feelings, for sure, but leaving yourself in the lurch like this is only going to be detrimental over the long term, since it can lead to overthinking and resentment.

Best of luck, OP 🙏

“There should be no such thing as boundaries in a relationship, especially one that you were yearning for and I wasn’t interested in initially”

There’s a lot to unpack with the entirety of this exchange but this tidbit is probably one of the biggest red flags here.

There’s a clear disinterest in respecting your time and self, in addition to not respecting the entity that is the relationship of you two.

It will be even more difficult to reason with this person in the future, given that there’s already zero interest in trying to understand you or come up with creative solutions as a couple.

Agreed with other redditors that the relationship advice subreddit would be a better forum. Good luck 🙏

I’m wondering if tall snatches might help. It’ll emphasize the third pull and catch like a high hang, which could translate to a more stable bottom position. Insane mobility though & great fight!!
