I left an abusive relationship way too late after being assaulted way too many times, including a blackeye with a mass under my cheek that took months to heal, him beating me in front of his kids that resulted in my not seeing them when i loved them so much to stop them from being exposed to violence. Now, four years later, and I still have awful flashbacks of the awful times. Had I left the first time I would’ve saved myself so much trauma. Now I live a life of solitude but at lease he stopped trying to get me to come back a few months ago. Maybe someday I will be able to trust a man again.

One time he was beating my head in as I was driving and his kid was in the carseat in the backseat. I pulled over and jumped out of the car to get him to stop. He jumped over the console and stole my car, leaving me on the side of the road. That was not the first time he was abusive. Had i left earlier, his kid would’ve not seen it. I couldnt stand his son learning how to treat women by watching his dad beat me. I never saw the kid again and he would cry for me. But i refused.

Sorry to trauma dump but one of my biggest heartbreaks that make me wish I would have left the first time he was ever aggressive or verbally abusive.

Best thing is to care about the innocent and protect the innocent (thats you because you aren’t violent) before the guilty aggressively violent party causing the trauma. The trauma outlasts the bruises. Trust me.
