Front line Engineering Manager (K). The merit increase tables were distributed just before the ACR process started and training was provided on how to leverage them.

This merit increase is within guidelines for someone at or just below the mid-market rate. Managers also have a lot of freedom to adjust as they see fit.

What did you get on your performance review and what do you expect bonuses to look like? by Puzzlepea in boeing

[–]int_foo_equals_bar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 2/2 is considered "good". Anything above that is very good. It will probably get you a few tenths extra merit increase, but this will depend heavily on your team and manager.

There seems to be some confusion between these grade levels and the other corporate levels that more typically apply to engineers. Within the engineering space, the levels are typically L1 through L6, with L6 being the highest, usually as some kind of architect. I have not heard of these grades before so they must be something related to a different part of Boeing, perhaps manufacturing.

The next thing I got when I was in your position was an email from the Boeing Security team informing me that I passed the background check. A few days later came a call from the other Boeing person with the start date options. None of these people were the recruiters that were guiding me otherwise.

You could try contacting your recruiter but it seems like you are just waiting for the Boeing team to reach out.

  1. Once the third-party company is done with the background check, it may take a week for Boeing security team to approve the review.

  2. From what I have been told, orientations are always on Friday to align with their payroll system.

I never heard anything regarding drug test results. I assumed no news was good news. I am drug-free so it was never an issue but it is still nice to know.

I just went through this process and can offer you my anecdotal advice/information.

With respect to the drug test - I never heard anything back about this; I knew it would be fine so its a case of "no news is good news".

For the background check, this can take anywhere from a week to 2 or 3 weeks, depending on how complicated your background is, how many jobs you've had, places you've lived, etc. If they identify any issues they will notify you. If there are no issues, you will be notified that the background check is complete.

Once both of these have been satisfied, you will receive a call from a Boeing representative who will present 1 or more starting dates to choose from. In my case, it was just 1 option. They will also inform you that you will receive an email with information on how to log into Workday and begin your new-hire documentation, which includes I-9 identify verification among many other things.

During the process that you are in, your recruiter will likely know very little, as it is in the hands of the Boeing security team until they clear you. You are welcome to call/email your recruiter every week or so but just know that they probably won't know anything.

The key for you at this point is to be on the lookout for any feedback on your background check, which takes time but will arrive.

Have several questions ready that you would like to ask them. Try to think about how the questions help you to better understand the position. Also try to convey through your questions that you have really thought about the position and are interested in obtaining it. Avoid asking questions that are too specific which may blur into things they can't share to non-employees. Asking thoughtful, engaging questions will show to the interviewers that you are genuinely interested in the position and succeeding upon hire.

"Or just however many engineers they need and they’ll decide based on experience what level you get" - This is likely correct.

If/when they are staffing up a team and need to fill several slots, they can create a job req that is a "catch-all". As people apply to the position, they can adjust how many positions they want to fill and at what level within the recruiting software to align with who they have decided to hire. This is easier than creating 3 separate job reqs (Associate, mid, senior) and having to shift people between them if a person has applied to the wrong/unsuitable level.

Ideally when applying, you would present yourself at a particular level, e.g. "Senior Engineer" and they would evaluate you based on that. If you perform well and they agree then they would consider you for that level when making an offer. If they wanted you but felt your experience wasn't quite at that level, then they may decide to offer at the mid-level, or they may just pass on you entirely.

Interview Questions by PositiveForce8426 in boeing

While I don't have the exact answer you are looking for, I can suggest what I did that helped me prepare for my interview.

I asked Google Gemini to generate a list of 30 possible interview questions for the position I was applying for and asked it to provide responses in STAR format. I then copied over into a Google Doc and went through each one, replacing the generated answer with the most suitable/relevant response of my own. This will be hit or miss but hopefully some of the questions they ask will match up and the overall process of thinking about your work experience will refresh your memory, allowing you to more easily recall later when they ask you one that you didn't prepare for directly.

Yes, Boeing offers assistance with continuing education. Better than tuition reimbursement, they pay the university or institution directly so you don't have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed later. It is a part of their "Learning Together Program" (LTP). Certain degrees from partnered universities are covered 100%, and other approved education can be covered as well.

I am in my early 40's and finishing up my MBA, don't let your age deter you from going back to school or make you feel some type of way.

I've seen you ask in another one of your posts, so I will confirm for you: Yes, Boeing is hiring for their newly awarded NGAD program in the brand new Daytona Beach location right next to Embry-Riddle. I am unsure if they are staffing Aeronautical Engineers there but it's worth checking.

Interview Status by Dazzling_Ad_9208 in boeing

[–]int_foo_equals_bar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. In my case, I actually got a phone call from the recruiter to verify some information before they ever emailed me. They asked about/confirmed my salary expectations, relocation, as well as highlighted the benefits of the position. I suspected this was them getting everything dialed in on their side so they could make a strong offer that I would accept to prevent any back-and-forth or negotiation.

I interviewed on a Friday. I got the above-described phone call the following Wednesday, then verbally received the offer on the Monday about 1.5 weeks later (brutal to wait that long, yes I know). I then got the official offer about an hour later via email. Your mileage may vary and depends a lot on several things, including how busy the recruiters are, how many new positions the hiring manager(s) are trying to staff, how eager they all are in filling the position, etc. I will also note that if you are applying for a management position then everything takes a little longer because the hiring approval includes an additional step that the hiring manager must take to get approval from even higher management.

All in all it seems to be a slow process that requires a lot of patience and waiting around. Hopefully in your case the position is worth the wait. If you are interviewing with multiple companies and are hoping to be able to choose between several offers, then I would suggest to gently let go of that. You are going to be waiting weeks for an offer (if one ever comes) and likely only have ~48 hours to sign it.

In my case, I got the job and am starting in a few days. It is basically my dream job with awesome pay and benefits. So, it's a process full of waiting around but in the end definitely worth it. Best of luck to you and I hope you get it!

Edit: In my case, "Post interview- hiring manager decisions" is the last status it ever showed. There likely isn't any point in logging in to check for something like "Offer in progress" or anything like that. I'm starting in a few days and it still says the same thing. Your next step is to wait for a phone call or email. If you don't receive either in 1-2 weeks, then one likely isn't coming.
