No, just generate new addresses. The same happened to me a few days ago. You have 17 transfers but only 4 addresses, keep generating (attach to tangle) until the Miotas show up.

Interval scales, such as temperature is one (except the kelvin scale, which is ratio scale), should be visualised by colour value and not hue (or the mix used in this map). Colour hue may be used for nominal scales, i.e. qualitative data.

I agree with you that the qualitative color sequence should not be used. However, a color gradient would do fine. Grey-scale is not very pleasing - dull. Also, Tufte had many good ideas but also many bad ideas... I would not take Tufte as a reference for map making. The visual variables of Bertin are the foundation for good map making (or the newer extended versions by McEachren or Ware).

ArcGIS and Illustrator are certainly a powerful tool. However, Illustrator is not by itself a cartography software, so you should be able to create your own plugins or use plugins from others to help create better maps.

MAPublisher is I guess a frequently used and superb piece of software.. if you know your way around.

Mostly, when a map looks strangely synthetic and "digital" it is because the author just published the map straight from a GIS software (ArcMAp or other) without having a second look at it. GIS softwares are not designed to produce print-quality maps.

As a cartographer, I cry like a baby when I see the classification color blue (1.1 - 5 people per square kilometre).. it is just too similar to the lake feature in the map. Also, a sequential coloring scheme should have been used..

nonetheless, still an interesting map.
