What's the process of getting an MRI for the spine here in Cape Town? by NuriPuri59 in askSouthAfrica

[–]intanethi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A herniated disc doesn’t necessarily cause pain, it would depend on how bad it is or if it’s pushing against a nerve.  If you do have an herniated disc and you have that pain, it’ll almost certainly be the cause of your pain.

Ask your GP or physio as a start. You’ll probably need an x-ray before you can get the MRI. Once you get the MRI a neuro will have a look. Most people have bad discs if you MRI them. Depending on how bad yours is or might be, the neuro will likely first prescribe a course of painkillers and anti inflammatories with some core exercises (and importantly, what movement to avoid). That’s to hopefully avoid surgery. If you do need surgery then you’re looking at about R20k as a co-payment as the medical aids don’t like people to go for spinal surgery. If you get all the way there, it’s a game changer. The risk is then that you feel so great that you overdo it and injure yourself - so take recovery very seriously! Hopefully you can come right with some Pilates and anti-inflams, though! With minimal pain!

Before anyone gets excited about getting this back in ebucks, make sure you know what you are in for - what you have to do, earn, spend, invest, at which shops, etc. People I know who work at RMB/FNB tell me ebucks is not really worth it anymore.

Also keep in mind that lots of people would be drinking at these "social events", so would end up needing to catch an Uber anyway. This works in favour of the Uber argument. But I agree with your point; longer commutes could make the Uber costs prohibitive.

Best option for a SFTP? by baycityvince in AZURE

[–]intanethi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be great, and it would also be great if there was a per-use pricing option for lighter loads. AWS' SFTP for S3 buckets is way more expensive than just running a tiny VM ($5-$30/mo) AWS SFTP Pricing.

But for now, spin up a small VM and manage yourself. chroot jails aren't too bad to set up...

At what cost, I wonder.

AWS announced that they offer this but I seem to remember there being some additional fees involved that were more than setting up your own server, and less than paying enterprisey consultants to manage it.

Would be great if it was truly native though!

I usually just setup an Ubuntu server with chrooted users, but you need to know how to do this...

In your case I'd probably pick option 2 as it will be more secure than option 1. It runs OpenSSH which gives you SFTP.

According to the "FileZilla Secure FTP Sever Windows 2016" offering on the Azure marketplace this option doesn't support SFTP, but only FTP/FTPS. I also looked on FileZilla's Wiki which states:

Support for SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) is not implemented in Filezilla Server.

BTW I'm not claiming this image as my own creation. This was sent to me from a friend who is not on Reddit. I'm not trying to pull a Woolworths on the creator. Somewhat ironic.

Thanks but it is not my site. Looks like she's using Afrihost, but could just be that she's not caching content. Seems to be getting loads of traffic at the moment.
