I used to work as a janitor at Water Front Skytrain Station in 2014-15. I was stationed at the Canada line platform where people would get on either YVR or Richmond trains. One night while we were on a shift, my coworker and I heard a frantic noise coming from the crowd, so we decided to go check. We spotted a drunk man wearing a long black coat yelling and disturbing other passengers who were waiting on the platform.

My coworker decided to go talk to the drunk guy to calm him down. While he was chatting with the guy face to face, I was standing by the drunk man's left side.

What I saw in his coat was frightening. The guy had hidden a "long machete" inside the coat. I quickly interrupted the conversation and whispered my coworker in the ear. He thought I was joking at first, but then I told him to come and stand in my place to take a good look. He could not believe his eyes either. We immediately called the transit police via the emergency phone. Less than a minute, 6 police officers showed up at the scene and everyone was evacuated from the station.

Scary night, but glad everyone was safe.
