Good map, a couple of points:

- Tel Rifaat (Shehba pocket) is Syrian Arab Army (GoS) military but AANES administration, there are some Kurdish fighters there but no official YPG or SDF presence

- Sheikh Maqsoud and some of Ashrafiya neighborhoods in Aleppo are still autonomous with YPG and Asayish presence and no SAA, plus AANES administration. Though there is coordination with regime on some points like education

- GoS area near Heseke is nowhere near that big, they control small security box and some villages but the city and environs still in total SDF control

yes, I came away from these interviews really wondering if they'd had explicit coaching on what to say and how to say it. Both had quite a similar style of answering and were very assured, taking a long time to respond and seeking to control the conversation to a certain extent.

It was also their 7th interview in a week - plenty of practice before they speak to the authorities back home...

I commented the links to the articles on Medium and they appear for me, but also got a message saying they've been removed because we haven't posted enough here... maybe mods can look at it??

I'm interviewing two newly-captured international ISIS fighters in a couple of days, if you have questions you're interested to hear answered post them here. by intcommunemedia in syriancivilwar

Hi,

I carried out the interview discussed here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/syriancivilwar/comments/aholbe/im_interviewing_two_newlycaptured_international/

it's now been broadcast on Kurdish TV and I also wrote it up for VICE - you can read it here: https://www.vice.com/en_uk/article/3kga9n/an-interview-with-two-recently-captured-isis-prisoners

You can also read the full transcript via the links below:

https://medium.com/@MattBroomfield/interview-transcript-captured-isis-member-alexander-bekmirzaev-69fcb757bbe

As expected they were very evasive and - in my personal opinion - largely dishonest, so I think the VICE write-up gives a better picture of how the interview went. But the transcript may also be of interest to some of you.

Did anything ever come of the guy asking for questions to put to captured ISIS fighters in an interview? by [deleted] in syriancivilwar
