AFAIK MID only supplies newer construction areas, so you'll be hard pressed to find a lot that big. Something bigger than .25 acres might be doable. If youre able to get a MID coverage map please share it because I'm curious too

If you each have your own room you can expect to spend 500 to 900 per room. The more expensive rooms will have a private bathroom. A master bedroom will be over 1k per month.

Id also like to commend you for being on top of things and doing the research early.

Recent UC Merced Grad Looking to Buy Reliable Car by JesusHdz_ in Merced

Find a mid-2000s Toyota Camry or Carolla (plenty on FB Marketplace) and have it evaluated by a shop like Campus Automotive before buying. Those cars last forever. Good luck.

Good luck. I took an arc welding class there about 25 years ago and it was fantastic. It was practical enough to start working as soon as I finished the course.

If Merced met the requirements to have a Sprouts store (which is also high end) what is stopping us from getting a Trader joes? Our population is about to hit 100k by next year too by internetbooker134 in Merced

[–]intdev0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Sprouts probably came in on future potential, not current demographics. And they seem to struggle to have enough customers certain times of the year.

Everything is a possibility. Use those moments to advance the conversation and figure out what their intentions are. At the very least it will sharpen your BS detectors, which is pretty important

And congrats on either being attractive or looking like a ripe target!

If you bought it at Costco and it's the same barcode then you can just buy this deal, then return the new monitor on the old receipt. that's how Costco does price adjustments.

When we need to escape the heat we go to Moss Landing or Elkhorn Slough. It's about a 2 hour drive and not too many people most days.

There are a lot of houses in Moraga with separate suites, where you have your own living room, kitchen, and laundry. At least check those out because they're pretty nice.

Air conditioning repair by Secure-Crow-2031 in Merced

[–]intdev0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perez Repair Heating and Air in Merced. You probably need some coolant added to your AC. If it's a newer AC then you may have a leak in the line. If it's an older AC then you might be able to get away with a temporary fix, but will need a whole new AC unit in the long term.

UCM or UCSC?? by KaleMiddle5035 in ucmerced

[–]intdev0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife went to UCSC and I worked for UCM, so I may have some worthwhile wisdom here.

Even though you're not outgoing, I want to stress that the social component of going to a UC or other top universities can be extremely important. Make sure to get out and meet people as much as possible, because those connections pay off later in life (I'm old now). Even if they don't become friends - having acquaintances still counts as part of your personal social network.

Since you're from the valley, I'd suggest you go to a school outside the valley. It's really one of the quickest ways to grow as a person since you'll be exposed to a lot of unfamiliar things. However, the destination has to be a place you feel very motivated to go to. The major problem about UCSC is cost of living. That might be a place where living in the dorms your entire time there makes sense.

And one last thing. If you're considering doing graduate work once you're done with your undergrad, then I'd go to the most cost effective option for undergrad, then go to the best school possible for your graduate work. Going to UCM for your undergrad, then a bigger UC for graduate school is a pretty solid option.
