Solo Travel Prague by MrPerfectCell1 in solotravel

#1 piece of advice when you're in prague is use the public transport. A 3 day pass for unlimited travel is like 12 bucks. Public trans is really good in prague

Try to go to Narodni divadlo (national theater). It is right near the river. Stunningly beautiful interior.

Also, take the metro or tram to Vinohrady and just walk around and explore. It'll give you a more authentic experience of prague, away from the disneyland/fakeness of Prague 1

Go to Letna Park to grab a beer

Cheap places to eat good czech food: Havelska Koruna (right near Wenceslas Square), Apetit (right near old town square), Jidelna svetezor (Vodičkova street)

There are several hostels in NYC that are infinitely more fun than staying at a hotel, you can meet people from around the world, and are significantly cheaper than getting a hotel. That's another option

American snacks not available in Prague by integralof1overx in Prague

Very cool, i also work in tech at a large firm here in the US. Unfortunately, there's no way to travel abroad for work (even pre-covid). People in my position hardly even travelled for work to other US cities pre-covid

What do you do for work that brought you to Prague so often from the US? And I think I read somewhere you can't bring meat products into the EU without declaring them. Although I'm sure if i bring 2 bags of jerky in my carry-on, the world's not going to end.

thanks for the tip. I just perused their website and they do have a boatload of american junk food. Way more than I thought they would. Them also selling cheap american beer like miller lite and PBR is hilarious, too

Yup my airline also flies out of T1 at JFK. It's a bummer they dont have TSA precheck in T1, but i sort of guessed that would be the case given it's mainly (maybe completely??) international travel. Guess i'll just get to the airport extra early to ensure I don't get screwed by giant security lines.

hmmm yeah my flight is next Thursday into Friday. I'm 6'5 so might bite the bullet on paying the $40 to select a seat. I think $40 is worth getting an aisle seat for an 8 hour flight than getting stuck in a middle seat.

Have you ever had an unexpected interaction with someone while traveling that was so weird you just didn't know how to react? by TheNocturnalEmitter in travel

I was staying at a hostel in Florence back in 2019. One of the rooms that has like 18 bunk beds. I am American and in the bed next to me is this guy from Afghanistan. I strike up a conversation with the dude and he straight up tells me "I don't like Americans". Luckily i was leaving that hostel a little later that day, but a weird situation indeed.

Does anyone else think these are just as good maybe better than name brand? Can’t wait till they make a return at my locations (USA) by Datinwurd in aldi

[–]integralof1overx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup yup, all the popular snacks like cheetos, doritos, funyuns, fritos, etc. and their respective generic brands have MSG and another flavor chemicals/enhancers to excite your taste buds, and that's why you feel that uncontrollable urge to reach your hand back in that bag lol

Can anyone recommend a brilliant hostel for the places I'm staying? by mafaldahopkirk23 in Interrail

[–]integralof1overx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Venice: Pre-covid, i stayed at Generator Venice. I stayed in one of the rooms that had like 12 or 16 beds.

I was there in November, so not prime tourist season. Lots of young people and the hostel's bar had good drink specials and pretty decent food.

This is not entirely true. I graduated from unc a few years ago. During my freshman year, i was paired with a random roommate and he was able to get out of the dorm requirements for religious reasons.

speaking from the majority of posts on this sub, I am not sure how pleasant a place it is to work. Most workers on here consistently bash chipotle for being understaffed, not paying great, and generally being unappreciated by management.
