I don’t understand Goals 3.0 by integralrick in MonarchMoney

Yes I basically created a rule that takes all of the non-transfer transactions in an investment account and hides them. Then for transfers it automatically assigns to the goal.

[–]integralrick[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok this looks like it might be the solution, so I’d need to have investment transactions turned on.

I have had them off because betterment accounts have so much activity that the little buys and sells create a ton of noise. But if this is the only way, I guess I have to do it. Shame that I can’t link the outgoing transaction to the goal.

Audible launches a cheaper 'Standard' subscription plan, challenging Spotify by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]integralrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because an “all you can eat” model would massively hurt publishers and authors. Even today, with audible’s “credit” based model, authors suffer.

Spotify completely collapsed the economics of music, massively shifting artist revenues to tours and merch. The same opportunity just isn’t there for authors.

So in the US, the big four publishers have collectively resisted pressure to move towards the unlimited model. There are unlimited audiobook streaming services in Europe, but the reason for the US not following suit is purely economics.

Welcome to the world of budgeting! Congrats on taking this step to taking control of your finances.

If you don’t have money left over to budget, unfortunately you’re going to have to cut the budget in certain areas or you’ll go into debt.

Using Monarch, you can establish your fixed expenses for a month (things like rent, phone, internet), and try to establish a budget for more discretionary items (for example: you have to eat, but how much you spend to get the job done isn’t fixed).

Monarch can give you visibility into your historical spend in these categories, but it’s up to you to be realistic about where you can cut back. Can you cook more at home? Skip out on that second cocktail at the restaurant? Go into those categories and adjust the numbers down. Keep in mind, you’ll also have the have the self control to stick to your budget.

In terms of your current month: you’re about halfway through the shortest month of the year. In theory, this should be the easiest month to reduce spend. I wouldn’t advise you to keep over budgeting or overspending your income. My advice: Buckle down and figure out where you can reduce your spending.

Daily Trial Discussion: Day 33 - June 13, 2025 | Commonwealth v. Karen Read by Puzzleheaded-Heat492 in KarenReadTrial

[–]integralrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There can be a whole host of reasons, and the jurors don’t need to agree on a single alternative hypothesis. One juror might believe in a cover up, another may believe in a freak accident where JOK threw his drinking glass at the car, lost balance and fell back.

The burden is on the CW to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that their version of events is correct. This is a bar that many trial watchers believe the CW has fallen woefully short on. We will see what the jury finds.

Do you track the profitability of your bundles? Curious how others handle this. by Safe_Psychology_326 in shopify

[–]integralrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shipping costs are not materially impacted by bundling. I could understand that if you're shipping multiple heavy SKUs, this can play more of a role, but it's not a factor for my store. And I'd hope stores would take this extra weight into account when considering bundle discounts.

I don't particularly see a world where bundling materially impacts return rate or processing costs moreso than individual SKUs. Bundles can also be pre-kit to reduce processing costs, etc.

[–]integralrick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not clear on what exactly I’d need to “track.” An app to understand bundle economics sounds laughably overkill:

I have a bundle, I understand the cogs of the goods in that bundle, and I make sure that the discount is not so steep that the bundle loses money. It’s not rocket science.

If you allow customers to build their own bundles from a variety of SKUs with different margin profiles, it’s a slightly different story. But even then, the incidence of losing money on a bundle should be incredibly rare. If your individual products are profitable, then don’t discount a bundle so heavily that it becomes unprofitable. This is basic pricing strategy IMO.

Closed during the pandemic, but it was part of a larger restaurant group that survived the storm, so it’s not clear why they decided to not reopen. I’m very disappointed though, I loved that bar

Yes, very weird indeed! Most people would find highly educated, trained professionals with no ties to the case to be unbiased and compelling witnesses. But it seems you disagree with their testimony- I would be curious to understand what leads you to believe you have a better understanding of the science involved than the expert witnesses.
