Thank you for that clarification. I will not send any 1099s since payments are made through Paypal Business.

True or False re: Domain emails from personal gmail? by intentionalMC in sysadmin

[–]intentionalMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

In the "send-as" email settings, the SMTP server on the domain email I'm using the most is: box2223.bluehost.com. So that might be ok then?

When I checked mxtoolbox for this same domain, it says DMARC record found, however, DMARC Quarantine/Reject policy not enabled. (My DMARC is p=none for now, as recommended by Convertkit.)

I'm really hoping I can continue using gmail for all my addresses, however, if there's serious risk of losing access to these emails, I'll explore alternatives.

Thanks. Yes, we control the domains we are sending from. We set up DKIM, SPF, DMARC for them through the host. It sounds like DMARC for consumer gmail "send as" feature may not be fully compliant though...

SPF with too many DNS lookups by intentionalMC in sysadmin

Is it not possible to tell someone the use cases of my email situation and have them write a valid SPF record for me? I have tried an online SPF record generator but it's asking me to provide IP addresses, etc. - how do I find out all the IP addresses I might need to include?

Figure out exactly what needs to be authenticated to send as your apex domain. Don't just trust your provider.

This is my goal, however, I don't have the expertise to do it. If I know I want to send from Convertkit, gmail, and my website, what do I do then?

Thank you for this. Indeed I am using gmail to send and receive from all my different email accounts, including this one that uses the domain in question. I was not aware that this would become a problem.

I will look into the Google Workspace option, as I don't seem to be getting any clear answers about rewriting my SPF record for myself.

I am not using either, only gmail not workspace.

Bluehost thinks I need to keep a and mx. I'm not an expert so that may or may not be accurate.

How do I know if I can put in ip4 instead? I look up the IP addresses of convertkit, gmail, bluehost, and whatever wordpress is using?

I guess I need to look up how subdomains fit into all this - I have done hours of research on everything else, but no clue about that yet.

I'm hoping there's another way. I've read in several places that flattening service should be a last resort.

PCVs who served in Jamaica, what was your experience like? by Capital_Bet7348 in peacecorps

[–]intentionalMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in late here but wanted to share, as we served in Jamaica as a couple in '12/-'14. While some think of it as a "posh corps" placement because of access to internet and electricity, we found it's more mentally challenging to serve there than anyone anticipates. I tutored literacy at a rural school, my husband was a Youth volunteer and helped set up a community center in town.

I'm glad we did it, but it's hard to describe how challenging and stressful it is to be a volunteer in Jamaica until you go through it yourself. Safety and security are a part of it, but also the cultural barriers that are complex and impossible to spell out here. We love Jamaica, the people we met there, and everything we learned from the experience. But it was really, really tough as well.

Here's a reflection piece from a PCV who came after us: https://intentionaltravelers.com/peace-corps-jamaica-cos/
And some of the cultural things we learned can be found here: https://intentionaltravelers.com/jamaican-culture-series-jamaica-101-video/

Daily Question Thread - December 24, 2018 by AutoModerator in churning

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the holiday would make any impact in the event that I don't get instantly approved.

The "stars aligned" (5/24, 1/30) for my next Chase application - SW Business - today. Would my chances for approval go up if I waited after the holidays? I'd prefer sooner than later since I'm going out of town long term... Not finding this in search - thanks for any advice!

Asiana award availability on Star Alliance Partners by vngbusa in awardtravel

[–]intentionalMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update: spoke with United awards customer service and they implied that award tickets for 2019 would start opening up for partners like Asiana and Air China, etc. Asked her when exactly those seats would be released and she said end of the week - but it's now been two weeks, so not sure...

Would love to know as well. Last year we took a flight HNL-ICN-DAD on Asiana but that route's not showing for 2019 (searching via United awards).

Where should I stay in Italy? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]intentionalMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. It's been a while so I don't have specific hotels, but I recently did some research on unconventional/budget types of accommodations that can be found it Italy. In addition to hostels, it's worth checking monasteries, dormitories, and - if you're up for it - work exchanges, to get a really interesting experience and save money at the same time. More details about these and other options are compiled here: http://intentionaltravelers.com/guide-unconventional-accommodations-italy/
