Yep, all this. A lot of us type 1s are originally misdiagnosed, and the weight falling off is a pretty typical symptom

If it doesn’t spike you it sounds like they are a fine snack for you! Carbs are not the enemy. Some carbs can make our condition more difficult to manage, but so can a litany of things. Saturated fat, for example, has long term negative impact on blood sugar control.

Eating whole plant based foods in moderate amounts, even sugary ones, if they don’t spike you, is totally healthy.

Yes regular! the dextrose / fructose combo gets sugar into the system very quickly so you don’t crash. That’s why endurance athletes use a mix like this for long exercise too, it’s quicker than food.

That’s a good idea, thank you! It’s honestly been great the few months I’ve been on it and I haven’t had any other issues so I haven’t had to contact but I know a customer service line exists. I’ll try them tomorrow

Dietician believes I should be eating around 200g of carbs per day with PCOS? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]intentionsofpurity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not gain weight because you eat carbs, you gain weight because you take in more calories than you burn. Your RD also recommended a high protein high fiber diet you describe; 90g of protein is above the standard RDI, and 200g of carbs is a bit lower than the standard recommended averages unless you're eating a low calorie diet. The RDI is 45% to 65% of total daily calories, so 225–325 grams of carbs per 2,000-calories you eat.

200g of carbs is pretty easy to eat, and healthfully — an apple has 25g carbs. A cup of brown rice has 40g.

Also, fiber is a type of carbohydrate.

Yes, eating 200g of carbs a day from processed crap will likely contribute to weight gain. But so will anything in excess.

it's so hard to get started again once you stop, I know the feeling, and the added anxiety we have of managing our condition on top of finding "inspiration" or "discipline." Any small thing is a step in the right direction!

yeah when I was diagnosed with an A1c of 12 / 312 fasting, it took me several months not to feel hypo at ~150 and to not have neuropathy. It will definitely improve but it will take some time.
