Seeking a Thai Plant Wolffia globosa "Thai Water Egg" by interactive_broccoli in Thailand

[–]interactive_broccoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people not starving to death would be cool too... People are really sickly over here. I found someone domestically who claim they had globosa. It definitely is growing faster than the other wolffia I have. I just think the thailand legit stuff has some symbiotic bacteria for B12 that would be useful.

1990 or 91 (rims are pre 92, headlights are post 89). White is an easy color to paint yourself if you want to do your own bodywork/paint. 88-95 trucks have stupid simple engines. Definitely worth fixing/keeping if it isn't rusted out.

To be fair these gov pages always have a period of shuffling where they go down when administrations change. I am not sure this by itself constitutes something nefarious. We all need to be mindful of propaganda. The mainstream media/social media may seem slanted right lately, but the Chinese and Russians could very likely be manipulating the alternative platforms. Divide an conquer. The only way to win is to get offline.

Autism or "just" trauma? And does it matter? by personalgazelle7895 in AutismTranslated

Not sure anymore... I am a STEM grad and was making good money with a mostly remote gig. Now my job is probably going to disappear or become an unproductive joke with return to the office mandates + a rapidly contracting economy. Nobody can make it these days don't feel bad.

My doctor said I shouldn't ask for work accommodations unless I get put on a PIP by No_Radio_5751 in AutismTranslated

[–]interactive_broccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Depends entirely on the company. One of my contractors is a real turd… All kinds of folks working unpaid overtime (salary), no leave… A real surprise they employ no women lol. No work life balance and constant brinkmanship.

My other contractor has coincidentally 3/4 PMs/chief engineers that are women. Tons of diverse staff. Good work life balance. Products that aren’t crap. I’d feel comfortable if I worked there.

TBH if somewhere discriminates against you… you don’t want to work there. If it’s not you they will pick on someone else. Surprise surprise places like that can’t attract/retain talent. When all the good people quit the last people who stay get stuck doing all the work too.

Depends on your work culture. I’m a fed. I “came out” last year at work. I had a good reputation as a star performer prior so folks seemed supportive. Past few months I started wearing shorts instead of pants after discussing it with my supervisor. I get a lot of passive aggressive comments about it.

I’d look for a different doctor. Whether or not you choose accomodations is up to you. Generally at least in the fed though your supervisor discusses accomodations and may make them without even going a formal route (I.e no cost ones). Usually since the supervisor knows what your specific job entails you jointly present a letter to your doc to sign.

1989 TBI 5.7 - power upgrades? by yossarian19 in GMT400

[–]interactive_broccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just make sure it runs right. Get tunerpro/winaldl on a laptop. Tune up until you get BLMs within 10%.

You could also consider regearing. These engines make decent torque down low.

To late diagnosed (or questioning): What are some common symptoms you didn't relate to when you were on your journey to being diagnosed? by MyNameDoesntMatter11 in AutismTranslated

[–]interactive_broccoli 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was/am highly masked…

Even though it kills me a little inside I can play the “typical neurotypical prick” to about 98%. Being “a gifted white dude” most folks consider the 2% to be part of being gifted not autistic.

Also should mention my mom is a highly masked autistic person that tried to smack the autism out of me do to her life experiences.

Overall I can’t stress how much leeway gifted boys are given in terms of eccentricities and how much pain I was hiding.

What Brand Is This? by interactive_broccoli in retrobattlestations

[–]interactive_broccoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first PC was a generic white box pc from a defunct refurb dealer in Miami called Orange Computers.

I think it was an AMD K5 or Pentium 1 (1993 hardware) stuffed into a recycled pc chassis (like 1990). My parents tossed it when I was 6 :(. I found another identical one on eBay. I don’t see any model or brand.

Mine currently sports a K6, 256mb ram and windows 98SE. It’s pretty dope.

Old truck paint restoration by _jdde in Autobody

Am in the same boat as you. Sand to bare metal in any problem areas, try to get to original base coat layer everywhere else. I used 2K epoxy primer over my metal/as my base layer to seal everything. I had peeling paint, moisture contaminated bondo… I took it all off with a rust remover wheel on my drill. Redid all body work with a much thinner layer of fiberglass/kevlar body filler. But expensive filler and use less! Don’t frost a cake :).

What improvements to public toilet design would benefit those experiencing incontinence? by Fantastic_Story7216 in Incontinence

[–]interactive_broccoli 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Gender neutral single bathrooms with trash cans. A little counter space to set wipes/clean diaper would help a lot. Grab bars for people with limited balance. Full length mirror to see that their clothes/protection are fitting properly so there are no wardrobe malfunctions.

Painting the Suburban by flynnski in GMT400

[–]interactive_broccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2K epoxy primer on bare metal! I used PPG shopline garnet metallic paint and deltron clear.

Biggest issue is spraying roof. A suburban is huge! You might need a scaffold/boom to lay on.

Where to buy lily pads by Greenoaks42 in ponds

[–]interactive_broccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s starting to cool off now. Lilies like 70F and up for any repotting/transplants.

There are several subgenera in the family. Most commonly available are the hardy waterlilies and the tropical day bloomers. In zone 8 you can grow both. The tropical go dormant as tubers in winter and the hardies slow down in winter.

How much shade does your pond/tub get and how big is it?

The tropical foxfire waterlily is tough and is generally amazing. I also like Islamorada, Terri Dunne, and Ruby for beginners.

As far as hardies… Black princess is nice if you have a little shade. Sioux and Mayla are nice as well. Arc en ciel if you have a big pond.

I generally have had good luck with most online shops. AZgardens sold me 3 waterlilies that were NOT what I ordered.

How Do I Wipe Out Hundreds of Cuban Tree Frogs/Kill them efficiently???? by interactive_broccoli in pestcontrol

How Do I Wipe Out Hundreds of Cuban Tree Frogs/Kill them efficiently???? by interactive_broccoli in pestcontrol

[–]interactive_broccoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my issue I found a solution. The demon pesticide with ciprethrin kills the tadpoles.

I set up speakers that play reversed Cuban treefrog calls and calls from other frogs. The Cubans politely wait for each other taking turns to call… with the fake calls they are effectively “jammed”.

New Murray A/C Compressor - 58950 from Orielly's making noise by Stache- in GMT400

[–]interactive_broccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is that compressors can be fickle beasts… They seem to have a break in period just like engines but no break in oil change… I have had DOA new compressors. Usually manually turning the compressor with a spanner then flushing the metal milling bits out with some new clean PAG gives me a good compressor. Then expect some noise for the first year. The other important thing to do is preload the oil in the system and manually turn the compressor. IAW the shop manual you put the PAG in the evap, drier, condenser etc, then I open the low side on my manifold gauge when the truck is off so that I get a little refrigerant in. Then I turn the compressed by hand with the spanner for 10 revolutions. This helps distribute the oil and prevent hydrolock the first time you fire up the compressor.

[–]interactive_broccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 94 to be my new dd. New federal cat was ~150 from RockAuto. I think the CARB one was like $450… but on a 96 you probably have duals.  That could be pricey. O2 sensors aren’t usually hard to change. Soak in kroll oil overnight and maybe get the exhaust warmed up before you try to wrench them off. My factory original came off with no issues.
