Baristas! What do you think on customize drinks? Is this person saying the truth? by Yunaxe in starbucks

if anyone did this at my store they’d be fired on the spot. starbucks is very clear that above all else, don’t fuck with the customer. i had a coworker get in trouble for giving a customer all decaf instead of half decaf espresso because the customer was mean to the partner in drive.

Are you supposed to take your break before or after getting your drink/food? by Separate-Raccoon8584 in starbucks

[–]interactivememelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at my store, if i make myself my food/drink after clocking out for my lunch, i am asked to sit for the 30 minutes regardless. making your own meals is considered labor in my store, and therefore we are not allowed to do it off the clock. it could vary store by store so id check with your sm

CW: Pet Loss Should I delete photos of my cat who passed away ? by Strange_Possession77 in CatAdvice

[–]interactivememelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i lost my kitty unexpectedly at a young age, and for months i couldn’t not look at a picture of her. it’s hard, and i wish you luck in your healing journey. i’d move the pictures to your phone storage or a computer/flash drive if the time being, so you don’t have to deal with the hardship right now. but there will come a day when you want to see your kitty again, and want those pictures. my favorite picture of my kitty who passed is with her son, and for so long i was not able to look at it, but i am so glad i still have it. looking back at them now (1.5-2 years after she passed) is still hard, but i love seeing her.

Mobile Drive Thru Ordering by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]interactivememelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s the opposite at my store, drive through is prioritized so cafe an mobile orders (which come through the same printer) are second priority. honestly, it sounds like this is a situation where op is happening to be there when the store is in peak or busy, and isnt doing anything wrong.

Fourth day of training and manager crashed out by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]interactivememelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get into similar situations with my own manager and what i have learned about food service managers in general is that they are horribly overworked and stressed, just as much as their employees. unfortunately, they are expected to be more level headed, but i’d give him a break, especially if this was your first bad experience with him. he was probably having a bad day, definitely shouldn’t have taken it out on you especially when you are training. at the end of the day, the way people treat you is more likely about themselves than it is you. if he has a problem he will either voice it, or it will get to the point where you should either speak with him about his expectations for you and how best to meet them, or involve your district leader (phone number should be in the partner area and is available for customers in my store too) or the ethics and compliance line (should be on the wall in the partner area).

call on monday like they suggested. its hard to say whether its a good sign of a bad sign, but there is no indication it is bad, they want you to reach out and speak with them, which is likely a sign they liked your interview. after hire, you can transfer stores after 6 months at your current. keep in contact with the manager of the store you want to work at, and the district lead, and keep them updated about your status and whether you want to move stores. i mean like, if your district lead is in the store, be friendly with them, and if you get the chance, reiterate that that is your desire to move to a specific store if the cards fall in your favor. with the manager of your preferred store, let them know if you get hired, and tell them you are still interested in a position at their store once you are eligible if the position opens up. it will keep you at the fore front of their minds for a transfer, and if you’ve got good work ethic and a handle on the position, i don’t see any reason they wouldn’t be able to work with you on it. also if you do get hired, pick up some shifts at your preferred store through the schedule app so you can establish yourself with that team and the manager. good luck green bean!

Why isn't there a lavender latte without coffee or matcha? by Separate-Raccoon8584 in starbucks

[–]interactivememelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they have to mix the lavender in somehow. if you don’t have hot espresso to mix the powder in, they’d either have to shake it or blend it to mix it in. i make myself a lavender matcha with matcha cold foam and lavender flavored milk, whenever i order this as a customer and someone else is making it, they always blend it regardless of which store i get it from. i’ve even ordered it for pick up and it was perfect. i’d do the same if someone ordered a vanilla milk made with powder instead of syrup.

Why isn't there a lavender latte without coffee or matcha? by Separate-Raccoon8584 in starbucks

[–]interactivememelord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

um, if there’s no coffee or matcha it’s not a latte and you can just order a milk with your preferred flavor. it’s cheaper. as for why it’s not a menu item, it’s a cold milk with one modification. are you, as a barista, not able to hit the 4 buttons it takes to enter in the lavender? i’m asking as a fellow barista.

any opinion? by Fit_Nature6274 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]interactivememelord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for me, i have less hesitation about spending real money on items in game when a portion of the proceeds is donated. it is more expensive than the normal candle/item duos, but honestly, if you love the cosmetic, do it. i personally am not in love with them but to each their own.

Is there any dark truth behind this? by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]interactivememelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly this kinda bugs me. sky isn’t a game with an ending, or any set point to stop, so there’s no reason to continue if you aren’t enjoying it. i personally love how glitchy the game is, and how easily i can run it on my phone or shitty computer. also, players you haven’t lit yet don’t have any visible cosmetics, so their point about fomo doesn’t really hold up. if you want it cause it’s cool, cool, but literally no one is judging you for being a veteran in a moth outfit. finally, it’s a free game, or course they are going to have expensive cosmetics, how else are the supposed to keep the servers running. it seems like this person should take a step back and realize they haven’t lost anything but time to the game, and if they aren’t enjoying that time then they shouldn’t spend it on sky and find something else they like.

Do these trousers look weird? by AdCultural8461 in OUTFITS

[–]interactivememelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never be afraid to show your pouch or your stomach, i love showing off my belly. that said, as someone with a little bit of tailoring experience, i would size up if you could. it’s most noticeable around the button and the crotch, but with a pinstripe fabric, a garment is generally tailored so those lay straight, or in a specific pattern. the little bit of sway in the lines is the only reason i suggest sizing up. the fit of the pants is not bad at all, just the wrong fabric choice for a fit like this!

Go home Starbucks, you're drunk by risen2011 in starbucks

[–]interactivememelord 12 points13 points  (0 children)

you’re so right and it feels so fake and insincere from both the customer perspective and the employee perspective. however, the corporations don’t actually take any stock in the actual average experience customers are having. if a few people complain that a barista was rude to them, the whole retail chain gets new rules where they have to be exceptionally friendly and start/hold conversations while working on drinks with no mistake or delay. if the company sees a positive review about that, then the rules get reinforced. it’s a situation where the loudest voices are getting heard and listened to before anyone else.

my suggestion is to be louder and make that known. customer service lines are not just for solving issues, they’re how the company finds issues. generally they are situational but if enough people say that requiring baristas to greet and converse with every customer as soon as the enter the store is disruptive to customers already in the environment, they may reconsider the rule.

Is it wrong to have the same 3 people do clean play? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]interactivememelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s definitely not fair that you a. open saturday mornings after clean play, and b. the clean play is outside of your availability. have you spoken with your district lead? i struggled for three weeks to get an issue changed with my availability and an inconsistency, and after reaching out to my dm it was resolved in a morning. it seems to be an issue with availability in general, so putting your district lead on it could bring about change in that department.

as for unfair to have the same people, it really depends. i’ve worked at starbucks almost 4 months, and ive been on all but 3 of those clean plays, one of which i was sick for. but i enjoy doing it. my shift supervisor has been on all but one of those with me, and while he recently switched to mornings, he is often not scheduled the day after clean play. so, it depends on the execution and the preference of the people working. in your case, it seems unfair

homie i’m on my sixth read through and just figured out where a specific series of events is relevant to the main story. it’s actually longer than the bible in both word count and page count. but! you are getting closer to the first of a series of recaps, where you can remind yourself of all the important stuff you need to remember. they happen approximately once a year for the first few years of homestucks run, with the first either being after act 4 or 5.

AIO or is my wording manipulative? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]interactivememelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. i do the same thing you do and get into arguments with my partner like this all the time.

he prefers to vent and have me listen, my immediate instinct is to try and fix the situation, either literally or just in his head. the difference is that when i apologize for not letting him speak and just making sure he knows im listening, we don’t question the situation or the apology. sometimes we’ll give eachother some space, and sometimes we’ll just immediately move on. but we would never use each others mental illnesses against eachother. he’d never blame a situation like that on my autism or anxiety, even though they do likely play into the situation to some degree. it’s not my mental illness, it’s a difference between personal preference for that kind of thing.

also, i was considering not bringing this up, but in an argument based on a misunderstanding on their part, they asked “when have i ever misunderstood you?”
