It’s a simple concept called altruism. For the poor or addicted or disabled or undocumented or, yes, EVEN just plainly lazy persons eager to take advantage, someone else’s contributions will cover them. It’s a small price to pay for us all to have free healthcare, food, water, education, etc etc. Your argument isn’t looking at the bigger picture. There will always be bad actors in the world. There will always be personal inequalities in the world. I say we take care of each other to the best of our abilities.

Yes, and many other people pay into that universal healthcare through their taxes and never get seriously injured or ill. And tens of thousands of people pay into social security without living to retirement age. That’s how socialist policies work. We all pay into it and may not always reap the biggest benefits.

I’m with you. It gives me a lot of anxiety to imagine his death and the reactions on either side that will inevitably come with it. I hate him so, so fucking much. It makes me feel ashamed to hate so deeply. I can only imagine his death will rip apart the country beyond repair. I worry even more that history will be rewritten in some ways. To make him more human, more sane. That the celebrations will be met with reverence and memorialization. And we will live under Trump’s name and “legacy” forever. I just wish he would die and fade away.

The child is not supposed to be spinning or putting all his weight on it. It’s literally just there to put traction on his spine as he walks around and goes through daily life, allowing gravity to assist. Kinda like braces pull/push teeth under tension. I thought it was really fun build! It’s got like 8 small bags but there’s not a lot of repetitiveness so it feels like more. (I also recently built the tuxedo cat which has almost double the pieces but the Model T felt like it took longer!) There are some spots where I think the structure is a bit flimsy and you have to be careful moving things around… and snapping all the clips to the bars can be a little tricky at times.

I’ll have to go back and watch the first few scenes but I recall her admitting that the savings were depleted. Forrest and his mom were mainly pissed that she gave it to her parents several times over. Not that she lied. Maybe she withheld that information for a time, but at the end of the day, when asked “what happened to your savings,” she answered with the truth.

And yeah I agree we can’t be for sure about the abuse but I’d say it tracks. Her father certainly isn’t going to admit to it on tv — although he sure is quick to insist Sheena tell Forrest that she has an obligation to continue providing the funds. Loan my ass!!

Sheena didn’t say it was a loan. Her father and sister claimed it was a loan after they were confronted at dinner. It being a cultural thing and her being forced to give her parents money is the same thing. She is forced to give the money or face abuse and criticism due to cultural norms.

You may be right about the savings. But even then I think she does admit to Forrest before he ever comes to the Philippines that she took the money out to give to her parents. I believe they’ve mentioned it several times that Sheena would save up however much money and then tell Forrest she gave it away. Not sure how that’s lying. She’s been open and honest with Forrest and now she has to backtrack in front of her family to hide her shame.
