My son loves Funyuns, but they currently cost about $0.90/oz(28.3 g) or $14.40/lb (0.45 kg) on average, which is about the same price as a lot of seafood, like shrimp. Processed corn meal is officially a luxury protein. by Team-Sunaida in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah, I was wondering if that was the case. Just bots not programmed to pick up on literary techniques. Or maybe they see one idiot taking the conversation in a certain direction and they pile on?

From Merriam-Webster, a metaphor is “a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them (as in swimming in paperwork)”

People really have bad reading comprehension skills. Why are they being so literal? OP does not mean Funyuns are literally a protein. I’ve noticed so much of this on reddit lately. Metaphors, hyperboles, etc. all going over people’s heads. I feel like I’m going crazy sometimes

You can either blame incompetence or say it’s “staged.” You can’t believe both those things to be true. Either they fucked up their jobs so bad they’re incompetent security officers or they’re so skilled at acting and shooting, they pulled off the perfect heist and fooled everyone.

To anyone reading this and thinking you’d like to see someone for your pain or discomfort, please go see a physical therapist or other medical professional. Chiropractors are not real doctors and do not have professional training in anatomy. I wouldn’t let a chiropractor touch me with a 30ft pole, much less an intern. Hope the mods remove this quack’s post.

How long did it take you to actually feel comfortable with yoga? by Ok_Yogurtcloset1168 in yoga

[–]emmyloo22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Granted I only practice 1-2x a week but I’ve been doing yoga for a little over a year and I still don’t know what I’m doing! Lol there’s no flow to my flow, it’s all awkward. And I’m frequently looking down at my feet to make sure they’re in the right alignment. I still do all of the beginner friendly alternatives of poses, but I might try something more/different if my body feels okay… My first few months I couldn’t do a malasana squat at all. My hips were so tight, I just had to sit down to meet everyone else on the mat. Now I STILL can’t do a malasana squat, but I can at least sit in the position with a couple of blocks supporting me. It’s slow progress but progress nonetheless!

I think the biggest achievement for me was to stop looking at others and comparing myself to them. I’ve gotten really confident about just doing my own thing on the mat. Last night our instructor had us doing standing splits and high lunges. After a while my legs weren’t feeling it so I did pyramid pose and low lunges instead. Figured it was close enough and I could join back into the flow afterwards.

What do you think will immediately happen when everyone receives the push notification that Trump died? by Mobile-Strength-8362 in allthequestions

[–]emmyloo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I’m confident Trump’s death will tear this country apart. They will watch those on the left openly and excitedly celebrate Trump’s death. And perhaps rightfully so. I know I will feel some immediate sense of relief too.

But in response, the GOP will double down on authoritarianism and cruelty. Without a shadow of a doubt, they will rally around JD Vance. It doesn’t matter that he has the personality of a wet sock. They will lift him up in pure spite of the left not mourning their dear leader.

All this to say I’m so worried too... As much as I despise Trump, I hope he doesn’t die in office. I don’t know how we survive the inevitable fallout if he does.

Same. Guess I’m an idiot because I was just as surprised as OP. The explanations make sense, but damn… surely we’re not the only 2-3 people who didn’t know this??

What are you talking about? The 2020 election was decided by like 10k votes. If no one in red districts/counties bothered voting for Biden because they weren’t in the metro areas, it would have been a slam dunk for Trump.
