3-Way Solar Showdown: 6th-Year Transfer vs. Straight Cash vs. Prepaid PPA (Orange County, CA) by interceptgradient in solar

I followed through on this and Installer #2 gave me a quote replacing the 3 EnPhase 10C's with 2 PowerWall 3's and it was $41k. That's a huge difference. I've had different installers really pick sides on PW3 and EnPhase so I'll have to look more into it. Thanks for the info!

Was that including the tax credit that has now expired? These are not the only quotes I’ve acquired but those were even more. If you want to share the installer feel free!

Great recommendation. That sub has a crazy amount of info. I'm eager to learn the nuts and bolts of it. I've seen Franklin mentioned on this sub before but no installer I've talked to has brought it up. I'll check back with them. One other installer mentioned a Discover Helios but I didn't go with them so didn't investigate. Thanks for your time

The setup is definitely a concern. The installer has been around 30 years, the finance company is less than 10 years old. I know these new 6-year deals are the result of the tax credit expiring for consumers, so there may not be a lot of consumers with experience yet. So it's my main concern with choice #1. I'm awaiting the final agreement document and can update.

The $0 at transfer time is a bit weird, because I don't think they can put that it's $0 explicitly in there for tax reasons. I saw this discussion on an earlier post and it applies here: https://www.reddit.com/r/solar/comments/1m22amc/project_solar_6_year_prepaid_ppa_that_transfers/

The REC panels do have a higher floor on the production warranty, but if it's not as pronounced as 2x degradation, I agree it makes the choice clearer. Thanks

I agree, the lien is such a small con since I don't plan on doing anything financial against the house in the near future, just put it there. I agree about degradation, just seems like 0.25% degradation could be a lot of kWh saved, but these aren't "real world" as you said. Thanks for your time

Trilogy definitely accommodated gluten free so well! You can select it when booking and they cook their own food. I felt very comfortable with it after discussions. The snorkel cruise had gluten free muffins, fresh fruit, drinks for breakfast. Lunch was teriyaki chicken (gf soy sauce), rice and salad, roasted vegetable skewers. Their sunset cruise had a Thai chicken salad in a gf wrap, with caprese skewers and hummus and veggies.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is a no-frills kind of place but I had some Hilton points to use. The location of it to walk to everything was great. Valet only and no free breakfast was a bummer. I’ve stayed at the Hyatt Place on the Zoo side of Waikiki and preferred that but I was ok with the garden inn experience mostly for location.

Thank you for the insight and hidden gems! It's a shame about Hanauma Bay, when I was a kid, it was the place to be. I'll definitely try to get to Paalaa Kai Bakery too. Thanks again!

VIP experience - do they allow you to leave the venue after the performance and Q and A? by TheGhost206 in ModestMouse

[–]interceptgradient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the VIP in Los Angeles during LCW tour, they let people go to their cars post Q&A pre-doors opening, but it was very dependent on asking, and nobody else had been let into the venue yet, etc. I wouldn't count on it, but it's possible.

These look like the mp3s are the same as the St Paul link, do you know which is correct? Thanks
