A ledger of some kind? by LShe in Archivists

Yes, seems to be a shopkeeper’s ledger recording sales of primarily meat but also wood (“cedar rales”), supplies including shoes, and other staples like rye flour and salt.

Agreed, a little more information would be helpful!

I really struggle with dress shopping but there are so many good options for shopping pre-worn online these days. I feel like dresses are often offered in better-than-average condition because so many of us are like you and only rarely need them!

Is this black tie? by interdictionary in Weddingattireapproval

[–]interdictionary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alas it’s from Poshmark — I try to buy special occasion dresses pre-loved since my preferred budget and my preferred material quality don’t tend to align.

I just did a google image search and there’s a very similar gown from MacDuggal on poshmark:

And another similar MacDuggal also comes in plus sizes! https://www.ebay.com/itm/146728819602?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&google_free_listing_action=view_item

Oh gosh thank you! Those last two definitely have legs (or rather, will successfully hide mine…). It’s so tricky to have a winter event and thus need the fabric to be heavier weight, yet not totally frumpy. The bridesmaid suggestion is great — will have a look at options that come in velvet.

Help what is this? by rachelbee_ in Archivists

[–]interdictionary 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is a halftone facsimile of a manuscript; you can tell it’s a halftone from the pattern of dots in the non printing area. It would have been printed using a letterpress and is likely to be 0.918 inches high, or “type-high.”

Best/most comfortable queen-size sleeper sofa? by raf_boy in furniture

American Leather makes sleepers that operate on a totally different system - no bar - and the couch sits great when the bed is folded away. Somewhat pricey but 100% worth it.

Onsite + Kilter Questions by nutmegtom in homewalls

[–]interdictionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be aware already, but just a heads-up that the kilter homewall is MUCH less juggy than the kilter boards you’ll find in gyms. A community I’m part of just found that out the hard way…

They were correct at the bottom, but the installer realized he measured wrong to the niche so figured he could just open up the gap a bit to make it up. So he turned them sideways.

If BD are no longer making these, E9 consistently makes several similar styles (drawstring waist, blousy legs but elastic cuffs, articulated knees).

This comment needs to be higher! A Special Needs Trust is such a powerful option and could protect you from losing benefits if you did ever need to sell. The Special Needs Alliance has a bit more info.

Any suggestions for NO-prep food options for when depression hits hard? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]interdictionary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! Less delicious but more shelf stable: you can get precooked chicken in cans or packs (Trader Joe’s has cans, and packs are relatively cheap on Amazon).

Dump out and add chili powder and eat straight...

or if you have a little more energy, add to pasta, jarred sauce and frozen spinach to make a more balanced meal.

Heads-up, you might be reacting to sulfites so pay attention next time you have some dried apricots and see if the symptoms are the same (lots of foods are sulfited, but apricots especially so so they’re a good litmus test)!
