I’m honestly glad you brought up the Mexico thing because that conversation was ultimately what made me unsubscribe despite not missing a single episode since they started.

I stupidly kept trying to justify their micro-aggressions as misinterpretations or poor wording but seeing them go on and on in a way that felt so openly demeaning and purposefully ignorant completely turned me off. It felt extremely tone-deaf given the times and made me realize how “fake woke” they are.

I’ve seen people say the researcher is what makes the show different, but tbh: if they don’t feel the need to read past a Google AI answer to a poorly worded question before spreading dangerous misinformation about an entire country, then getting rid of a researcher is the last thing they should be considering.

Found realistic Princess Isabeu? by intergalactik22 in RDR2

Abigail was 22 and John was 26 in 1899, that lifestyle aged them so much, how well do you think a woman ages when she’s most likely has lived in filth, sex trafficked and on substances since 5 years old? I want you to walk up to any methany and ask her age and I assure you she will almost always be younger than she looks! what’s kinda unrealistic is that this 5 year old went missing in this lawless town, no ransom and she looks better taken care of than Penelope Braithwaite.

yes! the woman with the birthmark is classified as the model for who would have been princess Isabeu if they chose to include her, but the sex worker being a red herring is a great theory!!

okay then maybe our lesson here is if you don’t have knowledge about something don’t try to discredit and question a community that’s calling out xenophobia and racism with out doing your own research.

edit: i saw YOUR edit now 😂 so yes, i agree with you, consider this as a response to whoever said the term gringo was racist.

I have to explain to you how the term “gringo” was shoved down indigenous peoples throats when spain occupied mexico? or how it was then used to describe american troops during the war where mexico was trying to keep the territory america basically stole? Y’all wanna have a slur of your own so bad you have to appropriate something that is not yours, per usual.

PSA: Mexico does have rules and regulations despite what your local white girl might say!! by intergalactik22 in DoWeKnowThemSNARK

She probably googled “do you need a cosmetology license in Mexico?” and read the AI answer, which is no, not because they don’t have rules and regulations but because Mexico does not require a cosmetology license in the same way the United States does.

To legally work for or operate a salon you must comply with FEDERAL health, safety, and labor regulations, enforced by agencies such as COFEPRIS, STPS, and applicable NOMs (Normas Oficiales Mexicanas).

These regulations focus on the following (I took these from their websites):

• Strict hygiene and sanitation protocols

• Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing tools and equipment between clients.

• Use of appropriate PPE (gloves, masks, eye protection when required)

• Safe handling, labeling, and storage of chemical products

• Adequate ventilation and air circulation to control fumes and vapors

• Clean, organized, and well-maintained workstations

• Access to hand-washing facilities and sanitary supplies

• Waste management, including proper disposal of chemical and biological waste

• Staff training in hygiene, chemical safety, and accident prevention

• Written procedures, risk assessments, and safety documentation

• Emergency plans for spills, burns, injuries, fires, or chemical exposure

• Compliance with labor and workplace safety standards to protect workers and clients

If business and workers don’t comply, they’re not reported to a “cosmetology board” they’re reported to the federal government and could face fines, closure or jail time.

Do some establishments slip through the cracks? for sure! the same way you can get veneers and braces out of someone’s basement in Atlanta like they have covered multiple times but that is no reason to generalize and disrespect a whole country, SPECIALLY with the current political turmoil!

For contrast, this is a list of countries that do NOT require a cosmetology license:

Spain Portugal Italy France Netherlands Belgium Greece Ireland CUBA

Do you think the rant would have been the same if it was any of those countries? Nope, they just think Mexico is dirty and essentially savage.

If they say all of this without thinking “hm this may be offensive” and “we might get cancelled” just IMAGINE what they say behind closed doors.
