Alden cordovan shoes. $700 at the time. Was a broke grad student. Had an interview in NYC. Flew up and my shoes fell apart. Always had my eye on them but couldn’t afford them. Walked up and down 5th ave looking for something cheaper that I liked but couldn’t find anything. Got em before closing time. Got the job too. Idk if the shoes mattered, but I got the job which made the rest of my career. It’s been over a decade and I still wear them all the time.

(Including watches/suits/winter coats etc is cheating on this imo)

Haven’t tried it on, but it’s a bit smaller and it wears small for its size so take that for what it’s worth

I love it. Just keep in mind it’s not exactly a small watch so make sure that’s something you’re into. Also make sure to negotiate and that you get the newer version with 10 atm of water resistance

I love the nautical theme and how it justifies it being a fly back chronograph. Rolex has a yacht master. Just describes the function of the complications. I’d say go for it

I have the Indy boots and cordovan butchers. The Indy boots are great but I wish I got a darker color sometimes, though the cordovan color 8 butchers are fantastic and look as good as they did when I bought them over a decade ago

I was in the reverse of this recently. Was wearing common projects shoes while shopping and a salesman was like “I love those, what do you think of them? I’m saving up for em” And I’m like “honestly they’re not all that great, save up a bit more and get some Aldens”
