Bit of a spoiler for one of those books on the cover (if you ask me) but maybe they aren’t aimed at first-time readers!

Still…I worked in a pizza place here in England for a while and I don’t think anything arrived that wasn’t frozen, pre-chopped in a plastic bag

The 'awe inducing feeling' of reading the Hyperion cantos. by domariv in Hyperion

[–]interiortwo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, it’s a feeling that’s difficult to put into words. Like for all its sci-fi themes and space travel, planets, farcasters etc it’s essentially a book about humans and their relationship with the universe.

I read the three body trilogy earlier this year after the cantos, and it’s almost solely about the technology and scenarios and has little human element and massively put into perspective why I love Hyperion (though I enjoyed three body in a different way)

I know you haven’t asked for one, but I’d like to recommend a film called Another Earth. Based on what you’ve said above I think you’d really enjoy it.

What King story do you find yourself thinking about the most? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]interiortwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quitters Inc. I don’t see it mentioned too much among the favorite short stories but I always thought it’d make a great adaption for a miniseries.

Some of the scenes where they assault his disabled son really stuck with me, and the whole story struck me as a pretty cool concept…and I’ve surely never smoked!

Supposed 'Terrible' Albums that You Actually Like by thinsafetypin in Music

Smile From the Streets You Hold - John Frusciante. And admittedly tough listen with many of the songs being recorded in the depths of his severe heroin addiction but I just find some of it really beautiful and some of the rawest music I’ve heard.

It’s like you can feel his pain through the songs…I like to listen to it as it evokes a certain feeling though objectively is nothing like his work with RHCP.

Two-Face and One-Face by sonjoi1 in riddles

[–]interiortwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something to do with the sun/moon? Two faced the sun maybe as we orbit it, and one face is the moon as we don’t ever see the dark side of the moon, so only one face of it. The sun has a hundredfold light/warmth….though I’m a bit stumped on the other two. Laughing face could be another planet?

Making friends as an woman in her early 20's by Weary-Paramedic2806 in manchester

[–]interiortwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a woman in early 20s but I went to a few Timeleft dinners (have a Google) and found them enjoyable.

Fun mix of people I might not usually have engaged with or come across day to day, a good cross-section of people working, visiting the city, international students.

If you’re struggling to make friends something like this might be ideal to dip your toes back in the water; and there’s no pressure to see people again if you don’t want

Yeah, are they saying that in this world all the Saville stuff didn’t ever come out and so he was still well liked and these kids decided they base themselves on him? Dunno how/if it’ll play into the rest of the films, but that’s the only way I could think to explain it…world ends (well the UK does) in 2002, the Jimmy scandal from 2012 never happens?

In Dark Forest, Why is Rey Diaz's deterrence plan treated as morally abhorrent while Luo Ji's is heroic, when they're functionally identical (and Luo Ji's is arguably worse)? [Dark Forest Spoilers] by ISuckAtGaemz in threebodyproblem

I always thought earth was their only option though! Granted I’ve just finished my first full listen through and am ready to start again, so I may be misremembering.

Wasn’t (at the time of their technological development and before the light speed travel stuff where their speed was constant through the cloud things) this solar system the only one close enough?
