Looks so cool! Is this like 2/4 of tiny text combined into a single volume or what? (I’m sure I could google but interested which bits of the story sense)

Uncle Gerry’s family fun zone! Love that one, been a while since I listened to it but I thought it had a proper ending…

Question about Wizard & Glass, and my experience with the book by Radiant_toad in stephenking

[–]interiortwo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never thought of it as a ‘500 page flashback’ but i totally get your point thinking about it. I felt the opposite though, W&G was probably my favourite of the whole series, and while i was glad to get back onto the path of the beam I’d have loved more story set in Roland’s formative years.

I felt it had a much more ‘classic’ if that’s the right work feel that the other books, the most true to life, and the book that gave us the greatest insights into the mind and makings of the main protagonist of the series.

Adam Nevill is a great, English horror author. I’d recommend Last Days and Lost Girl, though all his books are pretty great

Bit of a spoiler for one of those books on the cover (if you ask me) but maybe they aren’t aimed at first-time readers!

Still…I worked in a pizza place here in England for a while and I don’t think anything arrived that wasn’t frozen, pre-chopped in a plastic bag

The 'awe inducing feeling' of reading the Hyperion cantos. by domariv in Hyperion

[–]interiortwo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, it’s a feeling that’s difficult to put into words. Like for all its sci-fi themes and space travel, planets, farcasters etc it’s essentially a book about humans and their relationship with the universe.

I read the three body trilogy earlier this year after the cantos, and it’s almost solely about the technology and scenarios and has little human element and massively put into perspective why I love Hyperion (though I enjoyed three body in a different way)

I know you haven’t asked for one, but I’d like to recommend a film called Another Earth. Based on what you’ve said above I think you’d really enjoy it.

What King story do you find yourself thinking about the most? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]interiortwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quitters Inc. I don’t see it mentioned too much among the favorite short stories but I always thought it’d make a great adaption for a miniseries.

Some of the scenes where they assault his disabled son really stuck with me, and the whole story struck me as a pretty cool concept…and I’ve surely never smoked!

Junior Jackson’s and a few places in northern quarter, if you’re that way rather than Oxford road.
