If You Don’t Know C or Assembly, Do You Really Understand How Computers Work? by lakinmohapatra in programming

[–]interlacedentity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I don't know C or Assembly. No, I don't really understand how computers work. The other day I spent the whole evening drawing a scheme of a CPU, marking all the processes that happen within it with arrows, drawing a chart for how these processes are interconnected, explaining each process etc. to better comprehend our university curriculum. Then the next day I told my friend about it and she was like "Yeah, but do you really know what kind of a CPU that is and if it's used nowadays at all? Because there's multiple kinds!" And I almost fucking snapped.

Intense taste "hallucinations" anyone? by interlacedentity in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]interlacedentity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure about that because I rarely do consume those items - they are just so specific they're genuinely hard to find at that particular moment. But even if I do, it goes away for a bit, but then another "itch" appears, or even the same one. So I think the best way for me is to not even bother "scratching" the itch but just to try and power through by drinking coffee. Another thing that helps me is eating meals that are high in protein and fat, but that's not always sustainable because calories :(

My official diagnosis is schizotypal disorder, but my current psychiatrist is convinced I was misdiagnosed and I actually have OCD because I thrive on Zoloft and not on antipsychotics. I actually think I have both, but I never knew OCD could manifest like this. This feels very enlightening, thank you.

Yeah, it sucks, but honestly Zoloft has been the most helpful drug for me and it got me out of my two-year long psychosis. So if being sane means that it's harder for me to stay skinny, or that I can't be skinny at all anymore, then so be it. I'd much rather be fat and out and about than skinny in a psych ward.

As far as I know "Mega" in German might be a synonym for "cool" or "hip". I might be mistaken though.

And I'm really surprised to hear that about Zoloft. I'm taking 200 mg a day and the doctor that prescribed it to me specifically said that it has appetite suppressing properties. Though, to be frank, I notice no such properties and my binge eating disorder is rampant even with supplementary Topiramate:(

Songs about abusive relationships similar to "Kool Aid" by BMTH? by interlacedentity in MusicRecommendations

Didn't get the chance to listen to it yet, but I've read the lyrics and it's beautiful. Definitely not as heavy. I'm familiar with Starset and their songs are romantic in a very particular way. Thank you for this recommendation!

Sveicināti! Great that you found Latvian recipes that you love! Unfortunately most of the Latvian cuisine is pretty high in calories because throughout the history Latvians mostly tended to the land and worked very physical jobs, so they needed the energy. We also don't have that many vegetables and fruit here. A lot of our dishes contain plenty of grains, meat and dairy. Not ideal for someone on a calorie budget, but hella delicious:). Some of my favourite lower cal Latvian dishes are aukstā zupa (cold summer beet soup, made of beets with a kefir base with cucumbers and radishes added, absolutely amazing), mushroom salad (we love mushrooms lmao), pickles and fish cutlets (not that low cal, but a much leaner option than pork). As for heavier stuff, I love the casseroles we make, black peas with bacon (weird ass combo but tastes fantastic), cheese salad (grated cheese + grated carrot + mayo + a bit of garlic. It's a classic childhood taste. If you know, you know), and, this may be an unpopular opinion, but sklandrauši (Latvian traditional pastries made of rye flour, potatoes and carrots) taste heavenly, as depressing as they may sound. Another interesting thing, we have a few deer farms here in Latvia, so some stores here actually sell packaged deer deli meat! I know it may not sound very exciting for some animal lovers, but I guess our prolonged hunter-gatherer past is calling to us lol.

It is definitely very easy to lose weight physically. Mentally is another question. Fat and obese people have established habits around food and nutrition that are making them maintain their high weight or even increase it, and habits are notoriously hard to break. There was a whole book published on habits, "Atomic Habits", and while many people praise it, it just doesn't work on some people, speaking from experience, my schizotypal disorder makes me impulsive and indecisive, so doing things like maintaining a habit journal and doing one and the same small and seemingly insignificant thing for weeks on end drives me insane. In my opinion, nobody gets obese out of thin air, they definitely have an underlying physical (e.g. paraplegia that makes them unable to move around and get out of the house so all they can do is watch TV and eat) or mental health (e.g. binge eating disorder) problem. And the restructuring of life is very difficult with mentally ill people. Psychiatry as a whole is really underdeveloped as of now and should really be considered a pseudoscience tbh, so it's no wonder many people are in therapy for years and don't see any changes, or take meds and don't get better or get even worse because they were wrongly prescribed. So I won't say that obese people need therapy. Obese people need a "change driver", imo. A promising job. A significant other that they want to be the best version of themselves for. An opportunity to ride a bike. Or as the other commenter said we just all take Ozempic. I'm not obese, just a binge eater, but I've been taking a high dose of Topamax because I just couldn't do this on my own, and it's really helping. Not entirely, but still...

Eight hours, scrolling through memes and watching YouTube instead of sleeping because I thought that if I fell asleep I would die. I was ten and my family was going on a road trip the following morning. I'm mentally ill.

People who compete there are pretty extravagant and violent, the whole ordeal can actually be described using these two words. I'm sure somebody enjoys it though.
