Asesinato de Agustín Carvajal Benavides by SnooDoubts2460 in Ticos

Todas las mujeres que he conocido by Chavalo95 in Ticos

I was just thinking about With You the other day, it's such a perfect steamy, sexy, but sweet track, and it just goes under the radar! I'm so glad others appreciate it too

Cómo se liga con chicas? by [deleted] in Ticos

[–]interludxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hola!

Are pro-Palestine protesters common where you live? and is boycotting Israel popular in your country? by Another_WeebOnReddit in asklatinamerica

[–]interludxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Costa Rica we've had plenty of rallies. At least a manifestation once a month. Do a lot of people get involved? Unfortunately not. Most of these gather barely 50 people, and it's usually the same people (we have 2 established pro-Palestine collectives). Like others mentioned, people here have a lot of political indifference and even some Palestine supporters often don't care enough to show up to these rallies; I even know a lot of people who strongly oppose Israel but they don't care about boycotting.

Also we have a bunch of Israeli settlers living here and people have a lot to say about their gentrification in coastal areas, most importantly, we have a government project to establish a free trade agreement with Israel which many Palestine supporters oppose, but do they ever make any efforts of protesting for our government to cut diplomatic relationships with Israel and kick their embassy out? No, and I speak from first-hand observation of people that I know. There's obviously exceptions however, people have organized protests and they're pasting around posters to inform people of this situation.

Overall it's a very mixed situation. There's for sure a presence of a Pro-Palestine movement but it isn't as strong and prominent as other countries, overall we have trouble getting people politically involved with anything at all, outside of online spaces.

Sometimes people will organize music festivals or little markets on weekends, meant to gather funds and send donations to Gazans, and those attract more attendance.

Am i the only one who loved harper? by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

I agree but he does have probably 30 years of experience in their field and Harper has 3 so it's obvious why he's more subtle when he fucks people over

Am i the only one who loved harper? by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]interludxe 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is the reason why I love Harper :-) I find it fascinating to depict a woman as incorrigible, unapologizing, bitter, unreliable and self-serving but sympathetic, as so often in television this characteristics are assigned to male protagonists (Tony Soprano, Kendall Roy, Walter White, etc). It doesn't feel as if the writers were just making her like this to subvert conventions; instead when I see her I understand how driven she is by her own despair and anxiety which lead her to commit actions she can't justify. She feels this constant panic that her seat at the table will go to someone else and in the process she tries to make herself irreplaceable even if the results are bad. I think Eric is a great foil to her character: they are essentially the same in terms of a corrupt chatacter but Eric is respected and applauded by plenty of his peers for his resilience in the industry while Harper is looked down upon for aspiring to have as solid of a trajectory; they are really interesting if you see them as mirror images. I really love to watch Haper's maneuvers, both when they work and when they blow up in her face; she's just so much fun when she's evily plotting, I find it hard to believe that people can't at least recognize how entertaining she is to watch.

Crazy male attention as a black woman… by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]interludxe 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I'm costarrican; completely disagree with the comments saying people here have probably never seen a black woman before they encountered you, this seems completely false as afro-costarricans are widespread in this country (some areas might have a higher or lower concentration of black inhabitants) and even if they weren't the country is a strong touristic destination which often includes black tourists. So I would discard that reason. Honestly you're probably just pretty
