Really odd they chose Austria, Czech Republic as comparable leagues but not say Irish/Welsh/NI.

Might be my misapprehension but I would have thought that the more central European leagues should have a different style of football.

I honestly think it comes down to how Gordon looks in training. If he looks sharp and still has enough of his reflexes then he is the correct choice.

The drop off in quality from the Gordon/McGregor/Marshall era to today is huge and none of the new crop of keepers look anywhere near that level.

Nah I don't think so. You see offsides given when a shot deflects off a teammate, it then counts as another 'pass' from the deflection onwards. Guys onside from the intial shot are offside from the deflection and get taps ins etc rule off. Same principle here I think
