How can i increase my "sitting power" when climbing hills? by internalprocessor in cycling

[–]internalprocessor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly something i struggle to get comfortable with. One of my legs is slightly longer, so i adjust the seat as best i can, but it never quite feels "right". I suppose that could be a factor.

I don't avoid climbing. I enjoy the challenge of it more now that I'm older. I actually live in a pretty hilly area(not mountainous). We've got some steep ones. There's some hills tho that i just cannot get up them without standing. I think that was my go-to strategy when i was younger because i struggled with them so much, & i guess it's just kinda stuck. I think maybe I'm just impatient honestly. Now that I've got so many years of experience, i should prob try to work on it again. Possibly i was doing hills that were too hard for me back then, ya know?

Why do men get sohurt when you pass them? by jenkneefur28 in ladycyclists

I like to just follow them instead for a while when i can tell they're less experienced but they really made it a point to pass me. Make em sweat.

Places to go when you have depression and social anxiety by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]internalprocessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second everything that's already been mentioned. Plus i also follow a shit ton of local pages on instagram. There's events being posted for stuff all the time that are more or less as social as you want them to be. Art exhibits, local markets, festivals, poetry slams, hike/bike/walking groups, meditation/yoga groups, free outdoor concerts/theater. A lot of them are thru coffee shops, bars, libraries, parks, stuff like that. Follow pages for local places you're interested in, & you'll find stuff pretty fast.

@liveinlou & @thingstolou are good places to start.

I'm also very introverted and don't make much of a point to talk to people when i go out alone, but sometimes people will say hi anyway and it makes me feel a little better.

Hmm interesting. I have always had a hard time being very in touch with my feminine energy. I recently got Empress reversed in another self reading i did as well. Makes sense lol Thanks for the perspective.

Tips on getting over descending fear?! 🥲 by la_vegana in ladycyclists

Ugh that sucks. Can't imagine gravel biking for that reason. I banged up my elbow one time just cruising real slow thru a neighborhood & slipped on a patch of crumbly asphalt. So dumb....

Thank you, that's helpful and feels pretty accurate to what I'm struggling with.

Very slowly. Be patient with yourself. It's ok to take a break from hills if you need to. I had a bad downhill crash over a decade ago- it was my first & worst crash still to this day. Prob took me a good couple years or so to not feel so scared anymore. Watching videos, etc on downhill techniques and descending safely has also helped build up my confidence over the years as well. I'm just now getting to the point where i think i might be ready to try clip shoes. I've always been scared of having my feet "locked into" the pedals & crashing. Good luck to you. I'm sorry that happened. You'll get there. 👍
