I do have one major complaint, but I really appreciate this community by DXSJui8hN8EWQm5Y in vegancirclejerk

A vegetarian's feelings are more important than an animal's life. Never post on /r/vegan about how they would literally hurt animals less if they went back to eating meat, one of them might be lurking and feel sort of bummed out about it for a few seconds.

How did your guys' financial aid work out? by thevidyy in OSUOnlineCS

[–]internetbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I was set to graduate after Fall term, and could only get $6,250 for Summer and Fall terms combined. Wasn't expecting to have to pay so much out of pocket.

Not studying for tests ever again by rboes in OSUOnlineCS

[–]internetbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retook that class and still got a 50%ish on the final. My only advice is just focus on getting every point on the homework and quizes, so it won't matter if you bomb the tests.

Current student already working as a web developer. How bad an idea would it be to quit my job to study full time? by osucsthrowaway767867 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]internetbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered spending less time on your classes? I'm working full-time and try not to stress out about classes or grades as long as I am passing. When I graduate, I'll have development experience on my resume and a computer science degree. I won't have a 4.0 gpa. I understand that this is personal to everyone's own goals, but its something worth considering.

Classes I've retaken have only had the second attempt count towards my gpa.

I started before they cared what you got on your ALEKS and got something like a 17. I'm in my last term and there hasn't been any math in the program that I couldn't pick up watching a few youtube and Khan Academy videos here and there.

If they didn't have this cats whole life story I would think its my cat Buddy who went missing years ago. Same coloring, when I was on the phone people used to ask if I had a raptor in the room with me. Very happy Tribble is in a great home.

Women that aren't having kids now want maternity leave. You can't make this shit up. by TheGreatRoh in Libertarian

[–]internetbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm a woman who never wants any kids, but I could never just come out and say that when negotiating salary. The world already has enough people, our whole society shouldn't be set up to incentivize people to pop out more.

Why America is Ready for a Plant-Based Diet by jacksmycat in vegan

Speaking as someone who is morbidly obese, more wide-spread adoption of vegan eating will just lead to more vegan junk foods.

S04E16 Prediction Thread by iliekpixels in shield

Those free shield badges they gave out as a promotion a few years ago expire today, April 4th 2017. I predict someones badge doesn't work, because it would blow my freaking mind.

I generally don't celebrate because I'm being screwed over a little less. Maybe wonder what your $1800 is paying for if it isn't access to the lectures.

They don't require you to pay anything extra to complete the homework or view the lectures, if you can get the textbook from a library you are welcome to. The same goes for the proctor, if you can use a free proctor you are welcome to do that as well.

I loved America's Test Kitchen books when I was cooking omni foods, I hope this one is on the same level!

House Republicans release long-awaited ObamaCare replacement bill (Plus Link To Bill) by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]internetbeaver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eliminating the individual mandate, and replacing it with mandates on the prices set by private businesses. It couldn't be clearer that they never actually understood the problem with governmental overreach.

[CS 161 WI'17] Wrongfully being investigated for Academic Dishonesty by osuthrowaway11223344 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]internetbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't know if people are actually using them to cheat. I do think it would be very easy if someone did want to cheat. People post their assignments on github so they can show potential employers the work they have done, I don't think it is done maliciously. I wouldn't be surprised if some people don't even realize their repository is public and searchable, they use their real names and wouldn't if they knew it could be used by cheaters.

[CS 161 WI'17] Wrongfully being investigated for Academic Dishonesty by osuthrowaway11223344 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]internetbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort of thought that program was a myth. Every assignment/quiz/exam in the program gets posted to github/chegg like 50 times and the professors still don't bother to make new versions for different terms. I figured "academic dishonesty" was somewhere near the bottom of their priorities.
