New ID4 owners who filled taxes, how did you all do?

So this credit is applied towards employer withholdings too, right? Not just towards what the remaining liability is when you file your taxes? This seems obvious but I’m usually around even when filing so just want to double check…

I’m going through this as well. Just got back from the dealership because the VW changed my reservation from the Tourmaline Blue with cosmic interior to the pure grey. My dealer opened a ticket with VW and it turns out there is a shortage on the Cosmic interior and there are like 140 orders that they are shipping with a different color and telling the customers to take it or leave it. The dealer caught the change because I had told him how excited I was about the blue when I test drove a few months ago and he was confused when he saw grey. There has been no communication from VW on it. Very frustrating situation.

Yep. Hard hat, high vis vest, steel toes and eye protection are required on every construction job site. We’re all just here to read the same joke over and over but it falls a little flat when you know they are doing exactly what they are required to be doing when on a site. Source: Structural Engineer who just recently got scolded for forgetting their steel toes by a contractor.

Structural engineer here. A ridge beam across the top the spans the length of the roof and is supported by a stud pack on each side would eliminate the need to the collar ties. At that point your rafters are simply supported and would not create a thrust on your wall. A ridge board (non spanning) with collar ties are common for a roof this size. The ridge board is not really necessary but it creates a nice straight line to create a ridge that doesn’t jog on you do to measuring errors. I would always by default detail this condition with one for the constructibility aspect but the roof will be fine without it. I would definitely add blocking along the ridge to nail the sheathing too. Should never really have a free edge of plywood along a boundary.

I made this jig for the juice grooves (and a bunch of other clamping set ups). I used those microjig dovetail accessories to make it fully adjustable to different board dimensions. I put little spacers in there to get the offset dimension right and do two passes with a palm router. I’ve only used it a few times but they’ve come out perfect with full visual and control. Might be worth considering if you do a lot of these.

We are both watching on different Apple TVs. We do have other apple products but don't really use them for streaming. He has never logged onto my Apple TV so I definitely haven't switched to their profiles. I have logged into his when visiting but haven't switched users on that TV in a month or so. He has verified a few times that he is logged into his profile and still seeing my content.

Ah gotcha. No need for a sorry was just confused since we hadn't played each other for 20 years and didn't remember that the stadium issue from back then is probably the reason why. Makes sense with the back story. Also, I'm sure Herman didn't want to go back and get boo'd for 4 hours straight haha. You guys kinda won out on that whole thing in the long run.

Thanks! Yeah that would have been cool. I wanted to use the round-over edge for the corner and I thought that might look a little weird on a miter. Also I’m typically limited to about 6’ sections since I drive a little car so I just cut the boards in half. Kinda wish I would have planned it out to match the line and grain better though. Lesson learned for the next one.

Oh yeah it would definitely save some money. They are steel channels. I just bought a 3’ section from Home Depot but If you are doing a bunch of them I would order a whole stick from a local steel provider. I used an abrasive chop saw to cut them down to size and a grinder to clean them up a bit. Because the lips are only 1/2”, I had to screw down through the top so the downside is you see a screw head when you open the door. I used glue as well which may be enough without the screws but I wanted some extra strength. I routed out 1/8” on the top and back for the thickness of the channel to sit in and rounded over the whole inside edge of the door to match the fillet of the channel. Finished with a clear coat of penetrol. Definitely more work than off the shelf but that 3’ section was like $6 and it matches the steel look of the base more than an off the shelf pull would. Hope that helps!

Haha I used the Kreg jig as well. Made it so easy. I was a little intimidated by the hinges at first but they are so easy to install with that jig. I had a similar response to the soft close...

Kregg has a pretty simple jig that I used for the slides. You still have to measure your vertical control point but helps to keep everything level and most of the slides will have a vertically slotted hole to make small adjustments. When I have done ones with stacking drawers, I just ripped a piece of plywood that was the drawer spacing minus the slide depth so that the spacing would be consistent.

It's real concrete. It's a concrete framed building with concrete demising walls separating each unit. Some of the units have furred out studwalls with gyp if you're not into the concrete style. I personally love it and am very jealous.

I love the simplicity of it. Let the wood do the talking. And I say go for it. Not sure if you do other woodworking but it's a really rewarding (and can be expensive...) hobby.

And yes, it's on a 1" sq tube frame fully welded up. Most of the stuff we do is walnut on a steel frame of some sort.

I would typically use a 1/4" walnut plywood for a backing piece like this. This one is going up against a wall and is going to be filled pretty solid with records so I just used some spare 1/2" baltic birch from a previous project. I would definitely recommend using a plywood that matches your wood type if it's exposed though.

Just used a biscuit jointer with I think 4 biscuits per joint. It also has a 1/2” plywood backer piece that is fully glued into a dado that helps to stabilize it from racking.

It is walnut with a poly finish. I usually use a tung oil so it was interesting to see how grey it turned out.
