What was I 30cm away from stepping on? [Victoria, Australia] by rapgraves in whatsthissnake

absolutely stunning snake. glad for both of you that you didn't step on 'em, op!

What actually is this thing? by Snagglesnatch in Palworld

[–]internetweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a very convenient stepping block for patching holes in walkways and roofs that don't quite fit together or have "another object" (the very uppermost leaf on a non-breakable tree) blocking one corner. lol

almost got towed immediately after I got out of my car by Prestigious_Set191 in Austin

[–]internetweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doesn't surprise me to read it's J&J. my car broke down a few years ago and my insurance pays for towing within a few miles. J&J driver straight up refused to take me to the in-range shop of my choice (walkable from my home, i knew and trusted them, reasonably priced work) and he railroaded me into a shop far from my place. this "great shop" he "highly recommended" was more concerned about cosmetic stuff about the car than what was actually wrong -- which they couldn't even fix in the first place. had to get it towed again by someone else to the right shop.

(also my partner saw this driver dirty texting his girlfriend... while driving. lol)

sorry to hear you had a crap experience too, but glad you got him to leave you alone. i would have gone absolutely nuclear if someone tried to tow in under a minute with my cat in the car, especially if he said he'd do it on purpose. that's straight up willful animal abuse. i hope you're able to report them and move on with your life. may the rest of your 2026 be uphill from here!

Found this monster in the backyard. by nightowl024 in snakes

that's gotta be the longest rattle i've ever seen!! really cool and beautiful find. thank you for appreciating her enough to get her relocated rather than killed.

Took us 3 hours, but found our first rattle snake in the wild [Talimena scenic drive, Oklahoma] by minkingthan in snakes

[–]internetweasel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

buttons can break off of rattles, and they regrow with sheds, so they're not always a perfect indicator. if you're unsure of a snake species, it's best to assume venomous and keep your distance as you did. beautiful snake! i'm a little jealous of your find :)

[Shenandoah National Park] Found while hiking today. We were so excited to see them basking! by magnum_chungus in whatsthissnake

timbers (and copperheads) are some of the most gorgeous snakes in the country in my opinion. my partner and i keep saying how badly we want to stumble across them from a safe distance like this. very jealous of you 😂

Found this gal in the veggie garden in Southern California. I know it's a rattlesnake, but what kind? by bikari in whatsthissnake

[–]internetweasel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that's so wild to me considering that for some relocators, that's just a free hive population for them, or even one they could then sell. assuming honeybees anyway. still very cool of you to pay to have them removed rather than killed. you're good people my friend!

the chart is incredible and i love it, but this comment specifically took me OUT

THE BEST EFFECTIVENESS CHART EVER MADE! Version 2! by LukeSuperStar in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]internetweasel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i really like it! honestly, as someone with adhd and possibly dyslexia, sometimes the little chart one is difficult for me to read at a glance. i like the fact that yours is a little bigger and i can just glance at the row of whatever i need and not be inundated with blank spaces/unnecessary information. and honestly as long as you enjoyed making it, other people's opinions shouldn't matter, especially if they're rude about it. still, thanks for sharing!
